Welcome back my friends, you have arrived at another exciting installment of out Toy Insider “Sweet Suite” 2023 exploration. I’m continuing along in the same fashion as I did with the previous post and segmenting some of the brands together. We love these Toy Insider events and as I mentioned earlier, this one appears to be my eighth straight one. Let’s get on back to the funtastic findings shall we?

The Barbie movie only just opened last week and is doing gangbusters at the box office. Obviously the Mattel folks would be gearing the popular toy line of the same name with releases along those lines.

2021 Toy Of The Year Winners Are Announced

The TOTY Award Winners were recently announced in a first-ever virtual ceremony with the in-person event being impossible to hold due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. After a brief commentary by Toy Association President Steve Pasierb, the nominations were replayed and the winners announced. For ease of seeing who was up for what and who would eventually win the coveted award, I’ve left the original full list of nominations for your perusal. Mattel Reveals “Barbie Extra” Fashion Dolls

Hey friends, when we last brought up Mattel’s “Barbie” it was to celebrate the Elton John edition and that particular item has been flying off the shelves in record numbers. I hope that you got one if you wanted it because it seems like its a highly priced collectible at this point. Now I am returning to discuss a brand-new line for the famed fashion doll – The Extra editions. Take a look at the copy and images from Mattel resources.

Mattel Reveals “Elton John” Barbie

Mattel has really been pulling out the stops for their world famous doll and have already received high praise for their “Star Wars” Barbie, “X-Men” Barbie and the David Bowie Barbie. I loved all of those myself but admit that I am still waiting on a Darth Vader Ken or at least a Boba Fett one before I dive into this side of the collectible market. Now it’s time to help share the announcement about the “Elton John Barbie”. Some specs follow the image below and then I’ll have a whole lot of Mattel supplied visuals. Enjoy.

Mattel Reveals New Barbie “Fashionista” Diversity Line For 2020

As the annual Toy Fair approaches, so do the announcements from the makes of awesome products like the folks at Mattel who continually offer us worlds or wonder with their Barbie line (like the “Star Wars” and “David Bowie” ones from last year). Check out this latest bit of news.

The Press Release:
Yesterday, the ultimate girls empowerment brand – Barbie – announcd its 2020 Fashionistas line. Over the past five years, the line has evolved to be more reflective of the world girls see around them by introducing more than 170+ new looks. For 2020, Barbie is continuing the journey to represent global diversity and inclusivity in the fashion doll aisle by showcasing a multi-dimensional view of beauty and fashion by adding: a doll with skin condition vitiligo, a doll with no hair, a doll with a darker skin tone that uses a gold prosthetic limb, Ken with long rooted hair (all for the first-time).
