Last night the 72nd Annual Tony Awards were broadcast from NYC’s own Radio City Music Hall. Let’s take a look at the sum total winners list as culled from a few different entertainment websites. Of the biggest winners of last nights awards were “The Band’s Visit” that took home “10” Tony’s while “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” went home with “6” of the awards. The show was hosted by both Josh Groban and Sara Bareilles who talked and performed to the delight of the audience watching at home and in person.

Piercing Ken Thoughts: Sadly, I didn’t get to any Broadway shows this year and as I type this am realizing that the same neglect was the case for me last year as well. Sigh. Believe me I love a good Broadway performance but its often out of my budget wheelhouse unless I can snag something at the TKTS booth and honestly, I don’t really have the time to stand on an endless line. Based on the winners, I know that I want to see “The Bands Visit” and probably “SpongeBob Squarepants: The Musical” because it seems really weird. “My Fair Lady” and “Carousel” are bona fide classics and its great to find them returning and receiving awards but for me those are “date night” plays so I will have to pass being a single guy at the moment.
