In 1990, the world saw an adaptation of the 1983 novel by Roald Dahl entitled “The Witches” and it was a quirky fun ride into some supernatural spookiness. Now, in 2020, we are receiving a somewhat closer to the original novel reimagining starring Anne Hathaway as the High Witch. The first official trailer was just released and you can enjoy it down below.
The Premise: Set in 1960s Alabama, an orphaned young boy stumbles across a conference of witches, while staying with his grandmother at a hotel, and gets transformed into a mouse by the Grand High Witch.

Piercing Ken Thoughts: This really looks like a fun film and I have to admit that I haven’t seen the original version of this in decades. Now as you can imagine, the lay of the land is quite different for film releases at the present time and most theaters are either closed or allowing an extremely reduced capacity of attendee. That finds this film being released on HBO Max on 10/22 instead of in the theatre and since I currently subscribe to this service I will plan on watching it when I need some Halloween fun that isn’t on the terrifying side. What about you readers? Did you enjoy this trailer? Are you a subscriber to the newest service from HBO? Chime in down below with your thoughts and I will see you next time.
