Hey there readers and welcome back to the program once again. In case you are wondering what I am talking about with this one let me explain. You might remember my mentioning how my family retired a couple of years ago and when they did this they also packed up from their beloved Brooklyn and headed to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

The best option for my trip was going to be using Spirit Airlines for the flight as they go directly to Myrtle Beach and require no side stops to switch planes. With the distance being an under two hour flight it makes the most sense to just go straight there. Spirit Airlines is a low cost economy airline and essentially if you want something it comes with a dollar figure. An extra bag = $, a window seat = $ and a bag of potato chips or soda = $. You get my point.

With Spirit Airlines you can pick your seat and while I didn’t 100% wish to be on the wing, it was open and would allow some sort of visual capture with the mobile device and snappy camera. These shots were all captured by my Droid Razr Maxx or Panasonic Lumix point and shoot camera.

Well here we go onto the taxiing part of the journey for take off. This part of the flight always excites me but in a good way.

And we’re off……up, up and away as a certain blue and red long johns wearing hero might have said.

I’d say I can see my house from here but I actually can’t since this is Queens.

Don’t ask what we are over in this image because I am just not good at maps. Part of me felt it might be Coney Island but I don’t really think so. Maybe The Rockaways.

It’s never too late to familarize yourself with the safety stuff while flying somewhere.

Now that we were soaring high above the rest of the world, I had about an hour and a half to find some things to do so I included some images of the Spirit Airlines menu of snack and beverage options. As I said before, everything on Spirit Air comes at a price.

I didn’t order any of that stuff since I had a coffee and bagel before I left Brooklyn a few hours ago.  I’m assuming that I will be eating some lunch with the family shortly after I land so I can hold out for now.

A short snooze later and we are down south my friends.  I think I only ever passed through South Carolina and never did a proper visit but now I have more reason to do that.  Hey so its time for me to make sure my belt is fastened and that my tray is in an upright position and of course all mobile devices off or set to “Airplane Mode” once again if you must noodle with them.

I’ll be stockpiling my photos during the trip and posting something from this adventure every few days until I am out of the sights that I saw. Stay tuned and keep NYC safe for me.  I’ll be back in about a week.  I do already miss my girls Shadow and Spook but they are going to be well cared for in my absence.
