And so 2020 has come to its long-anticipated end and I thank the powers that be for this happening because it was the kind of year that most would prefer to forget. What a year it has been for all of us and who could have ever imagined something like this COVID-19 Pandemic happening and causing so much damage to pretty much everything. As most will realize there wasn’t a whole lot of things to do as we all sat home in fear of what was coming next but despite that I would publish on this and my main website PiercingMetal and actually even launch a third creative angle that I will talk about below in the Site section. Let’s recap as best as possible.
The Site
In 2020, “The Chronicles of Piercing Ken” website celebrated its 10th Anniversary as an online thing and as expected there was no celebrating done in any fashion based on the growing pandemic. I spoke about it of course because milestones are worth discussing and if I was able to keep you focused on your computer screen instead of going outside I was all for it. Looking back on how this all manifested I can say that in addition to being troubling, it was very hard to predict or anticipate when the world would get back to a more normal state of being. Watching trade show after convention after concert and special event being cancelled and not get a rescheduled date made me wonder if normal would even be possible at all. I would keep publishing across the year whenever there were items to share with the public. There were a lot of Pop Culture items with streaming shows and films and updates about conventions and trade shows. Publishing also found a few posts in terms of the comic book industry which is more of a PiercingMetal thing but if it applied to the Piercing Ken side of the fence it was discussed here. In 2020 we found many of the websites slowing down and actually heard some of the independent resources like our own choosing to pause and ride out the storm as opposed to keeping the creative wheel turning. That wasn’t going to fly with me at all and in 2020 the Piercing Ken website published over 200 new posts. Traffic actually surpassed the previous year by a couple of hundred thousand leaving us with approximately 770K Pages Viewed. So I mentioned my having created a third entity and yeah I did. In the summer of the year I was doing some private consulting and came up with an idea I named Ken Pierce Media and its been an interesting angle to develop. Click that hyperlinked text to be transported over there and by all means poke around to see what it is. I think you might like it even though its still in the formative stage. Now let’s talk some social media.
Social Networking:
“The Chronicles” has been using “The Big Three” of social media brands that are out there for quite some time and as far as the usage goes, I’ve been posting to them whenever it is possible to do so. Once a new post hits the website, I generally will post a Facebook alert or do a Tweet on our branded accounts to make whomever is following the outlet on those mediums aware of the content back on the main dotcom. Technically speaking, I view those as the more “newsy” networks that I have. The Instagram however is a completely different story as I will post image after image from a wide variety of events that are being attended and while this year didn’t find that many things happening under the circumstances, I made due as best as possible. The one network that Piercing Ken was not on until the last part of the year was YouTube. Don’t ask me why I never pulled the cord on doing a Channel until this past year because there is no excuse for it. I guess I got a little lazy on this based on all of the other duties that one has running a website and its other social media profiles. The link to that new Channel will be down below and suffice it to say its going to be hard to climb fast with all the competing channels out there at this time. A Google inquiry told me that there are 2.3 billion YouTube users as of this past year and I am sure a lot of them have channels. I will do my best to make that avenue interesting and hope that its something that you like to visit and engage with every now and then. One more point I can make on this is that I already have a few videos in place and will likely remove the ones done for the brand that reside on my original personal YT Channel. While I might lose a bit of traction on the personal side of the fence, any clips done for this branding should reside here. That’s a project to tackle once the year gets rolling. In the rundown of them all, I’d love more followers on Facebook and Twitter because they need to climb more than they have been. The most active place is the Instagram and once the ball starts rolling with clips, the YouTube will be giving that a run for its money. Believe me I know that people have lots of networks and brands that they follow but if anyone out there reading this is enjoying the vibe that “The Chronicles” has been putting out there then we’d love to have your support/allegience on as many of our social media accounts as possible.

So that’s all that I have up for this year’s overview and I hope that you and yours were as safe as possible during the trying times. We aren’t out of the woods yet but they did recently release a vaccine against the virus. Now I am not at all using this as a soapbox to challenge anyone’s view on being vaccinated but as someone who deals with upper respiratory stuff every couple of years, I will gladly be taking this when my time to do so is here. I wish you all the very best in health and safety in the coming 2021 year. Please be mindful out there and check in on your friends and family if you haven’t been doing so as regularly as you might have under different circumstances. We shall get through this but I cannot even fathom when that might be. Thank you for any interest in this side of the creative coin.
