The Press Release:
Uncharted at Greenwich House Music School has emerged as one of New York’s most exciting and unpredictable live music series, drawing attention from tastemakers and curators from across the city. Every Uncharted performance features New York City artists premiering new projects or meeting with new collaborators for the first time on stage. Past featured performers include a collaboration between Marc Ribot and Emeline Michel, Sony Masterworks recording artist Bria Skonberg, Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings guitarist Binky Griptite, acclaimed harpist Brandee Younger, vocalist Deva Mahal, jazz trumpeter Steven Bernstein, Broadway’s Grace McLean (The Great Comet), avant-garde theater artists Erin Markey and Emily Bate and many more.

“The Uncharted series was founded as a safe space for artists to take risks,” says series curator Jennie Wasserman, formerly of Jazz at Lincoln Center, Joe’s Pub, Carnegie Hall, and SFJAZZ. The new Uncharted season runs April 4 to May 2, 2019 and (new this year!) will set the stage for a robust plan of artist development and education. Uncharted artists will get GHMS support in a variety of ways including rehearsal and recording space, professional project feedback, PR and marketing advice, and instrument storage at no financial burden to the artist! The ultimate outcome is that the projects incubated at Uncharted will be developed and presented with our help at other storied venues in New York City (stay tuned!)

Performances for Uncharted take place every Thursday from early April to early May with performances beginning at 8:00 p.m. Most performances are $15 for advance tickets. Complimentary drinks will be served prior to and during all concerts.

4/4 – Lady Moon & The Eclipse
4/11 – Scott Kettner and Nation Beat

Piercing Ken Thoughts: Though we haven’t managed to attend any of these performances based on the scheduling and of course being our of our wheelhouse, our good friend in media Skeleton Pete Parrella is always on point and snapping some amazing photos. Be sure to check them out on his and the Greenwich House Music School website.
