Hello my friends and ardent readers of “The Chronicles” of Piercing Ken; It’s once again time for me to take a moment out of your day to discuss some of the social networking stuff that is happening over on the PiercingMetal.com side of the fence. I’ve been forced to do this based on the overall amount of content that I am posting over there as opposed to here to be sure that you will see it and not find the updates lost in the shuffle. Truth be told, “The Chronicles” has been my dual-branded editorial soapbox for some time now and that’s fine by me since we not only end up sharing some inside news but we also up the amount of content here. That being said, this post is to let you know that PiercingMetal.com has been using its Tumblr account for “11” years now and that’s pretty cool. Readers of PiercingMetal.com might recall that it was this past April that the website celebrated its fifteenth year of online service (discussed HERE).

PiercingMetal’s Tumblr Achieves “4000 Posts”
Hey there readers of “The Chronicles”, I’m pausing the regularly scheduled postings to once again laud an accomplishment that was achieved by one of our most used social networks. I’m talking about none other than the Official Tumblr of PiercingMetal.com which has achieved some 4,000 posts as of yesterday. Pretty cool right? I think so. More about this after the graphic.
Piercing Ken Thoughts: Whew! So many posts right? I’d like to think so as I am a bit of a numbers guy and while the use of Tumblr is mostly as a feed to the content over on PIercingMetal.com and sometimes to the stuff that I am posting here on “The Chronicles”; the achievement of 4K posts show we have never given up on using it. Last summer I had pointed out that Tumblr was purchased by the folks over at Automattic and they also own WordPress so they might end up doing something bigger with it. You can learn more about that happening by clicking HERE. The bottom line is that I will continue to keep on sharing my posts over on Tumblr and our 11th year of usage is around the corner at this point. Despite the pandemic, I’ve tried to keep myself posting busy and while some of my fellow website scribes are sitting around idle, I am closing in on having made something like “500” posts between the two websites at the time that you are reading this update. I even recently launched a Blogspot to help me learn more of their backend workings for future technical assistance use. That Blogger account is also a “feed” of sorts between both of my websites but it doesn’t look at nice as Tumblr does. Check that our by clicking HERE and maybe even follow if you have a Google account. Maybe I will change this around too but right now I’ve other things to focus on. That’s all I have for this announcement or update or whatever. I hope this finds you all staying safe and following your local regions guidelines to be safe during this viral pandemic. See you again soon.
Update 10/1/2020: Since the time of this announcement, the PiercingMetal Tumblr has been rebranded as the Ken Pierce Media Tumblr and all links now reflect this change. This rebranding makes it all the more comprehensive and entertaining going forward.

PiercingMetal’s Tumblr Turned “10” Today
Hello again my dear friends and faithful followers of our lifestyle website “The Chronicles Of Piercing Ken”. It’s once again time for me to laud some social networking milestones with you and as I’ve done before this news relates to my PiercingMetal.com side of the fence. So you might be aware of the fact that the Metal and Pop Culture site had hit its fourteenth anniversary back in April (discussed HERE) and this little alert is to let you know that the Tumblr microblogging account that we use is now ten years old. I think that this is cool news and I’ll discuss a little more about it down below the image.
So before I continue I think that I should explain why I’d post about a PiercingMetal thing here on “The Chronicles” for those who don’t know how we work already. Some already know that each website that I do is the opposing side of the same creative coin. This year, the PiercingMetal website hit fourteen and then this site surpassed its ninth anniversary and at this point I work each of them together quite a bit and no one seems to mind. While each site has its own audience there is a lot of transfer of interest depending on where the reader is in their lives. I created an account on Tumblr to lock in the creative identity on that medium and since 2009 have been using it to place our content in front of you is you choose to follow us over there. It’s very bare bones but I was also making sure to alert you to some of the coolness that was happening over on “The Chronicles” as well. The interesting thing about still using this profile still is based on the news that came to light just last month. It seems as though the folks over at Automattic have purchased Tumblr from its previous owners at Verizon and if that name rings a bell its because they also own WordPress. I discussed that news HERE in case you’d like to read it and while a month later is too early to determine what the future holds for all of the Tumblr profiles, there is a pretty good chance that it gets to be an even better experience for those who use it and follow us. At last check we had a couple of hundred profiles following us so please know that there is always room for more. For me, the shares to it is an automatic checking of a box and I think there are more than 3.5K posts on the profile so that’s a lot of chances to send readers to our posts. With this big news I should probably share a lot more of both websites and our other social networks over there as well for good measure. If you aren’t following any of these links we ask that you please do so with Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. I’ve said this before and maintain that when it all comes down to it, it helps with website outreach and that’s fine by me. The link is below if you use the medium and enjoy PiercingMetal. There are hearts visible on each of the posts and we ask that you click them to show you enjoyed the feed. It should help the account in the Tumblrverse as well. Thanks for listening and I will see you again soon.

Automattic Acquires Tumblr From Verizon
Every once in a while, we need to shine the spotlight on some industry news and this is especially the case if it affects some of the tools that we employ here on “The Chronicles” and of course on PiercingMetal.com – Recently, the folks at Automattic announced their purchase of the Tumblr medium. As you know, Automattic is also the owner of WordPress which we use for both of our websites. Read on down below for their owners statement on this news.
Automattic + Tumblr:
Those of you who’ve followed my Tumblr over the years have probably come to expect a mix of travel photos and the occasional link to my WordPress blog. Well, today is different. I’m delighted to share that Automattic is acquiring Tumblr.
Back in 2013, I reflected on how friendly the relationship has always been between WordPress.com and Tumblr, and on the exciting future I saw for web-publishing platforms like ours. In the intervening years, the Tumblr team has continued to impress me with their ability to create an intuitive publishing experience on desktop and on mobile, and to foster so many thriving, passionate communities. I have worked on WordPress my entire adult life — 16 years now — and so the democratization of publishing is near and dear to my heart. Tumblr and WordPress have always been very philosophically aligned there.

Tumblr Is Cleaning Up Its Act!!!
Hey friends, just sharing the press release that was circulating yesterday about the Tumblr service which I know a lot of you still might be using to blog and share your photos outside of the confines of restricted mediums such as Facebook and Instagram. For those who are in the dark about the medium, it is essentially the place where one can post just about anything that they feel like posting and after December 17th that will still be possible – provided the “anything” is not viewed as Adult Content in nature. That means anything nekkid and for sure anything sexual in its post. Here is the press statement.
The Press Release:
A better, more positive Tumblr Since its founding in 2007, Tumblr has always been a place for wide open, creative self-expression at the heart of community and culture. To borrow from our founder David Karp, we’re proud to have inspired a generation of artists, writers, creators, curators, and crusaders to redefine our culture and to help empower individuality.
Over the past several months, and inspired by our storied past, we’ve given serious thought to who we want to be to our community moving forward and have been hard at work laying the foundation for a better Tumblr. We’ve realized that in order to continue to fulfill our promise and place in culture, especially as it evolves, we must change. Some of that change began with fostering more constructive dialogue among our community members. Today, we’re taking another step by no longer allowing adult content, including explicit sexual content and nudity (with some exceptions).
