“On November 13, Felix Unger was asked to remove himself from his place of residence. That request came from his wife. Deep down, he knew she was right. But he also knew that, someday, he would return to her. With nowhere else to go, he appeared at the home of his childhood friend, Oscar Madison. Sometime earlier, Madison’s wife had thrown him out, requesting that he never return. Can two divorced men share an apartment, without driving each other crazy?”

Such began the proceedings for the 1970 comedy series “The Odd Couple” which was an adaptation of the hit play by the legendary Neil Simon. While the play featured Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau, the show starred Tony Randall and Jack Klugman as Felix Unger and Oscar Madison respectively. It ran for five seasons and some “114” episodes when all was said and done. It’s a favorite for many and while I also enjoyed the show, I cannot claim any level of dedication to it. It’s the kind of thing I would love to one day binge from start to finish which leads me to this particular post. Once I learned that WLNY was going to be doing a fairly comprehensive marathon I decided to add it. As my inclusion of this marathon was a bit of a last minute decision I mostly used their own network website as a reference. So please if there are any inconsistencies I direct you to their side of the fence and not mine. I have never included this show to my usual yearly rundowns of “The Honeymooners” and “The Twilight Zone” (the latter program being posted on PiercingMetal since it fits best there) but since it had so many episodes I felt that it might make for some good Google traffic and with this being the end of the year it will be nice to get some surges for the website. Now without any further adieu please take a look at the marathon that will begin later on tonight. If you plan on programming this onto the DVR you should start doing that now to get it out of the way.

Rundown Of “The Honeymooners” New Year’s Day Marathon On PIX11 (1/1/2025)

Greetings my friends and welcome again to what will pretty much amount to being the final post for this calendar year 2024 here on “The Chronicles of Piercing Ken”. If you’ve followed along with the website over the last few years and around this particular time, you know that we are here to talk about “The Honeymooners” because its time for the complete rundown of episodes that will be shown on PIX11 for their annual marathon. I’ve been doing this since 2020 and since its a longtime favorite show that has withstood the tests of time I’ve made this a bit of a year-end tradition. I remember the network doing this for many years even before we were publishing and a quick Google Search found that this has been done since 1996. I initially did this during the first year of the pandemic to help inspire people to remain inside but since so many in my circle aren’t doing too much and instead do mellow hangs I’ve kept it going. Now before I list the rundown, let me point out that the information on it was a little spotty and didn’t match up 100%. I used two resources to cull the data together and on the PIX11 website, the marathon shows as pausing from 4AM to 7AM to show local news and programming. On the other resource, the Spectrum TV Channel Guide, shows the marathon pausing from 4AM to 8AM for the same aforementioned programming. Then I saw a commercial on Channel 11 saying that there were “27” episodes to watch so I suggest just programming the whole time. Down below I’ve listed what can be found on the website listings. The other difference is that this year the marathon begins at 12:30AM on New Year’s Day as opposed to being the final hour of programming on the Channel before the New Year begins. We are also following Eastern Standard Time. If you’re in New York City like we are that means we are losing some five and a half possible marathon hours. IMHO, no one is that interested in regional and world news after partying and would likely rather spend the time with the Kramdens and the Nortons. Though I appreciate the fact that PIX11 does this marathon every year, they would serve their audience best by getting all the main important news into one broadcast for one hours time and leave the rest to the marathon. After the year that 2024 was, I would rather hear less about the things that are wrong since my regular news reminds me of that on a daily basis. The rundown is presented down below in full and please remember where it was sourced from if there should be any discrepancies. If anything is different when the broadcast happens do NOT yell at me in the comments and please instead send any gripes to the network directly via their social media profiles or website contact information. I think social media would work best in this case scenario and now onto the rundown.

PIX11 To Broadcast “The Honeymooners” Mini-Marathon on Thanksgiving

the honeymooners tv logo

Greetings my friends and welcome to a special post with a dual purpose. I am not only here to wish you and yours a very “Happy Thanksgiving” but also to tell you that PIX11 has recently announced that a mini-marathon of eight episodes of “The Honeymooners” will be broadcast between showings of the holiday classic “March of The Wooden Soldiers” on Thanksgiving Day. That’s the timeless Laurel and Hardy film if you for some odd reason have never heard of it. Now the readers of this website know that for the last few years I’ve been posting a rundown of “The Honeymooners” marathon that begins after the evening news on PIX11 on New Year’s Eve and runs for a number of hours into New Year’s Day pausing only for local news. This however will be the very first time that I preceded that post with one about the Thanksgiving mini-marathon and truth be told I don’t recall there having been one before. I could be wrong about that so please don’t chastise me. These eight episodes are surely a tease for the longer marathon to come for New Year’s Day and as I glance on the ones airing can confirm to having seen them numerous times over the years. I’m still going to watch them since it is something that always hits the funny bone. These episodes come from that is called the “Classic 39”. Since it starts at 11:00AM, those who are in charge of the cooking might want to get the small portable TV’s that many used to have for such events. Here’s the rundown of episodes.

Rundown Of “The Honeymooners” Marathon On PIX11 12/31/2023-1/1/2024

Hello friends and welcome to one of our last posts for the 2023 with a favorite thing to share around this time of the year. Now if you’ve visited us in the past when the year is wrapping up you’ll realize that it’s once again time to share one of our favorite marathons with the readership audience. For the last couple of years I’ve sat down and cobbled together a complete rundown of the annual marathon of the classic comedy series “The Honeymooners” that is broadcast over on Channel 11. Since this particular post is always a popular one I’ve made it a sort of year-ending tradition. Historically speaking, the network has been airing this marathon of the series for as long as I can remember and I myself began running it for the first time when 2019 was ready to become 2020. When 2020 became the year that it did I felt that it might be a good idea to run this one again to try to keep people inside the safety of their homes. I’ve decided to keep on doing it since I’m a big fan of the show and find myself watching it whenever it happens to come on. If you’ve never managed to see this series and believe me I know some of you are out there, there is no better way to educate yourself in it than with this marathon. If you think that you have sufficient space on your DVR or cloud-based system then you should start progrmming the episodes now. This year, the marathon is showing “28” of the original “Classic 39” episodes and I think that I will program it this year myself since I will most likely be sleeping when a block of it is airing and then running around during part of the first day of the year. Start the 2024 year off right by spending it in Brooklyn with Ralph Kramden, Ed Norton, Alice Kramden and Trixie Norton and just relax for awhile while appreciating one of the timeless and still very, very funny comedies of our time. The marathon begins at 11PM and will run continuously into New Year’s Day with a pause for other programming from 4AM until 8AM. It will then pick up and run until 5PM on New Year’s Day. The rundown is presented down below in full and please know that I sourced the information from the PIX 11 website directly. If anything is different when the broadcast happens do NOT yell at me in the comments and please instead send any gripes to the network directly via their social media profiles.

Rundown Of “The Honeymooners” Marathon On PIX11 12/31/2022-1/1/2023

Some of you already know about this feature but perhaps there are those who don’t and with that being said let me inform those new to “The Chronicles of Piercing Ken” website that for the last few years I’ve sat down and cobbled together a complete rundown of the annual marathon of episodes of the classic comedy series “The Honeymooners”. This marathon is presented to us by the fine folks at PIX11 and they’ve been doing this kind of thing for as long as I can remember. From my checking the past posts, it seems like I’ve been posting about this since the 2019/2020 marathon and I kept it going when the world was better enjoyed from inside the confines of our own dwellings in 2021 for the most part. I did it again for 2022 and now I guess its something of a tradition for the site since we are constantly doing Pop Culture Film and Television posts. Clearly the last few years have knocked the wind out our sails but slowly and surely we are trying to get back to as normal as we can and the familiarity of “The Honeymooners” marathon is a good way to look ahead positively. For sure 2022 as a year was miles better in many instances but the way that we were in “The Before Times” has not yet returned for most of us. Thought I’ve been going to concerts and conventions throughout 2022, I will admit that I approached them differently and wasn’t going to everything that happened and we are fully vaccinated. If you have the space on your DVR you should start programming them now so you are able to switch channels to your favorite network to watch the ball drop before you return to the fun of “The Honeymooners”. I didn’t program this last year but think that I will this time around despite my owning the DVD of what they call “The Classic 39”. As we’ve found in the past marathons, some of the funniest and best of the episodes will be aired so head over to WPIX 11 and spend some time in Brooklyn with Ralph Kramden, Ed Norton, Alice Kramden and Trixie Norton and just relax for awhile. The shows begin at 11PM and run continuously into New Year’s Day with a pause for other programming from 7AM until Noon. Let’s take a look.
