The two-month countdown to the 3rd annual Play NYC has begun and Playcrafting revealed today the first 26 exhibitors from studios big and small that will show off their games at the largest, two-day game convention this August 10th and 11th at Metropolitan Pavilion (125 W 18th Street).

“Last year we wanted to bring in more developers than ever before,” says Dan Butchko, Founder & CEO of Playcrafting, the convention organizer. “For 2019, we’re doubling down, making sure we have an even more diverse mix of games and studios that showcase the true essence and impact of the U.S. gaming community. Play NYC, New York’s Premier Game Convention Returns With A New Home

Announcing The Winners Of The 2019 Bit Awards

The 3rd Annual Bit Awards presented by Playcrafting was a night to remember! On Friday, February 1st, hundreds of game developers and enthusiasts from across the country convened at Parsons The New School of Design in New York to see who would bring home the hardware and honor those who have moved the gaming community forward at the Big Apple’s most diverse and interactive celebration of rising game developers.

Our host, actress and producer Carolina Ravassa, kicked off the celebration by reminding the audience of the transformative power of games, and welcomed some of the biggest names in gaming, such as The Polygon Show hosts Chelsea Stark, Ashley Oh, Simone de Rochefort and Allegra Frank, massive streamer swiftor, Francesco Antolini and Omar Shakir from Avalanche Sweden’s NYC studio, as they introduced this year’s Bit Awards winners and honorees.

The 3rd Annual Bit Awards Show Returns To Celebrate Video Games & Creators

Last summer we attended our very first “PLAY.NYC” Event and it was a cool place to learn what the talented developers and gamers are up to. Now its time to reveal the nominees in that conventions awards show. Take a look.

Playcrafting – one of the largest communities of game creators and fans in the U.S. – revealed today the full nominee line-up, its “Game Changer” honoree, and more of what’s in store for the 3rd annual Bit Awards – New York’s largest celebration of games on the rise – in partnership with Parsons School of Design. Beginning at 7 p.m. ET on February 1, 2019, game creators and enthusiasts will convene at The Auditorium at Parsons the New School (66 West 12th Street in New York, NY) to celebrate the year in games and the people who make them.

“Our incredible community is the heart and soul behind everything we do at Playcrafting,” said Dan Butchko, Playcrafting’s Founder and CEO. “The Bit Awards is the one time a year we gather creators and fans from across the country to honor games and industry leaders – both rising and established – through an interactive show that is sure to surprise and delight.”

Actress and producer Carolina Ravassa, well known as the voice of Sombra in Overwatch, will serve as host for the evening, taking attendees through world premiere trailers from cutting-edge studios, rock out performances led by award-winning multi-instrumentalist and composer of fan favorites Just Case 4 and Street Fighter Zac Zinger, and much more.

Play NYC To Debut Six “Graffiti Games” Installations by First-Generation Immigrant Developers

To celebrate what makes New York City and the American gaming industry so special, Playcrafting – the organizers of the Play NYC convention – announced today it will unveil six new “Graffiti Game” installations created by local, first-generation immigrant game developers at the 2nd annual Play NYC on Saturday, August 11 and Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Manhattan Center (311 W 34th St., NYC) from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

“The ‘Graffiti Games’ initiative was launched at Play NYC last year to celebrate all-star developers, giving them free reign to create original games that reflect their creativity and personal stories,” said Dan Butchko, Playcrafting’s founder and CEO. “From the exhibiting studios to the thousands of players who attend from around the world, Play NYC reflects the diversity that makes New York City so special. We’re honored to celebrate these talented developers and bring more people together when the city and nation need it most.”

Like graffiti on a wall, the “Graffiti Games” installations are created exclusively for Play NYC to surprise guests with experiences like no other, around every corner. This year, Playcrafting is partnering with the International Game Developers Association Foundation (IGDA Foundation) and the Bigglesworth Family Foundation to bring the installations to life inside of the six opera boxes that frame Manhattan Center’s historic Hammerstein Ballroom stage for up to 10,000 attendees to discover. The installations and their developers will also be featured on Play NYC’s Twitch stream for thousands more to see.
