It was only about an hour or so ago that the 71st Annual Emmy Awards were given out and while I had wanted to do more of a live tweet and updating to be different, I forgot that I had the Stone Temple Pilots concert to cover in Coney Island for my PiercingMetal website. Once it was over I bolted home to cobble together a plain old conventional website post with the rundown of the winners. It will have to do so let’s take a look at who brought home the trophies. The show had no “official” host and had a side commentary by comedian Thomas Lennon and I was split 50/50 on this. I found some of the snarky comments made me laugh but also many left me saying “this isn’t working”. Here now are the winners.
Outstanding Drama Series:
Better Call Saul
Bodyguard WINNER: Game of Thrones

I’ve shared some of the advance stuff for Disney’s live-action rendition of their classic “The Lion King” with the Official Trailer and some posters which you can enjoy by clicking the highlighted text. Now the day has come and its time to head into the deepest jungles and watch how this tale unfolds as the film opens in theaters everywhere. I’ve repeated the premise and casting below the poster.
The Premise: In the African savanna, the young lion Simba idolizes his father, Mufasa, and longs to succeed him as King of the Pridelands. Before this can happen, his jealous uncle Scar initiates a coup which results in Mufasa’s death and Simba’s exile. Simba grows up in the company of Timon and Pumbaa, a meerkat and warthog pair with a carefree lifestyle. As tensions rise, he is drawn back into a battle with Scar by the friends from his past life. As someone who has always enjoyed the Walt Disney Pictures classic animations, I am sometimes surprised when we find that a live action version is being planned. Of course some of them look spectacular in terms of how they CGI the animals against the human interaction and its without question that “Christopher Robin” and the recent “Jungle Book” were all very well received. “Aladdin” is coming soon and looks to be fun (see our trailer post HERE) and now its time for “The Lion King” to showcase its Official Trailer. Check it out below.
With so many movies coming out, it’s been a bit of a task keeping up with the ones for our Pop Culture section here on “The Chronicles” for sure. Much like my PiercingMetal.com site sticks to the superhero and monster films, this site pays close mind to almost anything Disney, Pixar and the other major houses that are putting out quality all-ages releases. Today is Super Bowl Sunday and I’ve read in advance that a lot of trailer were coming or being loaded up direct to their production company YouTube channels. Such is the case with the latest clip for the opening soon “Wonder Park” which was online long before the game began as you can see by our timestamp. I’ve shared stuff about this film already and if you’d like to see what’s come before please click THIS TAG. I’ve embedded different posters in each of these to make it more enticing. Now let’s watch the newest trailer. This film opens in March.
The Premise: A young creative girl named June, finds an incredible amusement park filled with fantastical rides and funny, talking animals called Wonder Land that was abandoned in the woods but soon realizes that the park came from her imagination and she is the only one who can save the magical place and revive the wonder with the help of the animals. This film is coming in 2019 at some point and will be a combination of live-action and skilled CGI. The teaser trailer was just revealed yesterday and here I am with it for your enjoyment.
