Exhibition of Printing & Publishing In Ancient China @ Javits Center

Yesterday I posted an item on contemporary Chinese art which was being shown in connection with the Book Expo America event over at the Javits Center. This year, China was the country of focus and this display was in the main hall and open to the general public along with one that showcased the techniques of printing and publishing in Ancient China. I’m rushing to get these two posts to your radar because they close quite soon (I think today and tomorrow are the remaining days) because while the larger BEA event is industry only, this part is come one, come all. Hopefully many of you readers can get over to the Javits Center and see this. There’s not much narrative discussion here and instead just images displaying on your favorite devices. Enjoy.

“The Revival Of Tradition” Contemporary Chinese Art @ Javits Center (5/27/2016)

Earlier today I attended the Book Expo America convention that was being held at the Javits Center and since the country of focus for this year was China, they had two special displays set up in the lobby of the convention hall. These were accessible to the general public because the larger BEA event is not. This first one was called “The Revival Of Tradition: Another Approach To Contemporary Chinese Art”. Since I had some time I wandered into the aisles and snapped photos for you all to enjoy. I won’t be saying much on this post and do have the names of the people behind what you will see coming up at the close of this narrative. Enjoy these beautiful works.

Exploring Toy Fair 2015: Colorforms and Folkmanis Puppets

logo-toy-fair-2015

As previously announced here on the Chronicles, I had attended the always amazing Toy Fair for my PiercingMetal.com website. This year I wanted to expand upon the findings at the event by using this blog to feature the stuff that just didn’t fit over there. I’ll begin with two company’s that I love and showcase some Colorforms and Folkmanis Puppets visuals.

When I was growing up, there was always something cool coming out from Colorforms and that tradition seems to be continuing into 2015 as you can see with these fun packs. Two popular licenses such as Spider-Man and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are sure to appeal to those fans of the characters and this toy.

PiercingMetal Goes To NY Comic Con 2014

Hey there readers. I just wanted to let you know that the adventures that I undertook at the 2014 NY Comic Con have begun being posted over on my PiercingMetal.com site. Since there are readers of the Piercing Ken blog that might enjoy that kind of stuff I like using this space as the occasional traffic sign. Just click the logo below to be transported to the other website and by all means enjoy. I think that there will end up being about ten individual chapters when it all comes down to it. It all depends on how many photos I take each day and how they are spaced out across chapters.

PiercingMetal Goes To Special Edition NYC 2014

The other day I attended a brand new convention that was being held at the Javits Center and called “Special Edition NYC”. It’s focus was on “Comics, Art, Culture” according to all the press copy and it was connected to the massive NY Comic Con under the direction of the folks at ReedPop. Since I was officially a part of the attending press, I covered the event over on PiercingMetal.com and you can see the chapters and all of the wonderful images that came along with it by clicking the logo right below.

I’m pretty excited because as I had previously noted on this blog, my PiercingMetal.com site is now being fully delivered in WordPress after over nine years of using a traditional static design with a side blog that was using the software. Going forward, the plan is to have everything that is presented on the two sides of PiercingMetal fall into the fresh installation. By the way, I’ve disabled the means to comment on this post and instead ask that if you’d like to add topical thoughts about the presentation that you please do so on any of the narratives you will see on PiercingMetal.com
