Hello there and welcome back. As I mentioned in the previous post, the coverage of this years Book Expo America was going to be presented right here on PiercingKen.com as opposed to my PiercingMetal.com since the exploring bore broader fruit. Starting off my visuals is the sign from the Press Office. The area itself is nice to have to sit down and collect some notes but I didn’t notice any coffee or snacks this time around which was a bit of a bummer.

One of the first things that I learned was happening today would be a signing of a preview by the legendary Richard Hell of a tome called “Massive Pissed Love”. Though I never personally followed his band The Voidoids during the heyday but of course know the seminal tune “Blank Generation” and how important it is to Rock history. Here are a few photos from that part of the morning.
Hello readers and welcome to my explorations at this years Book Expo America. Its also commonly referred to as BEA and for a few years has been taking place at the Javits Center where you find us for Comic Con, Photoplus Expo and Toy Fair. In the past I’ve documented these findings over on the PiercingMetal.com site in narratives that you can examine HERE but this time around I wanted to line it all out on the PiercingKen site. My reasons for doing this are simply based on their being a wider range of discoveries that fell outside of the normal offerings of the stuff I would focus on with my other site so sit back, enjoy that coffee and wander the halls of Javits with me.

Here’s what the Press Badge looks like for BEA and as you can see there is a QR Code that vendors and such will be scanning throughout the course of the expo. Its easier to add my outlet to mailing lists in this fashion to be honest. Here’s a couple of shots of the lobby floor before I headed inside the expo.
Now I realize that I just mentioned how I would once again be attending the fantastical Toy Fair for 2015 over at the Javits Center and how it was my fifth year doing so as a member of the press. I love this event and love sharing the findings on my PiercingMetal.com site for the fans of comic book super-heroes and science fiction movie properties but with our fifth year doing this show AND the PiercingMetal.com website reaching its 10th Anniversary this coming April, I’ve decided to try something a little different with this years coverage. Let me explain.
During the Toy Fair events of the past I have tended to focus on the type of stuff that I mentioned up above for that website but there is always so much more to see and to be quite honest, not all of that stuff is proper content for my Heavy Metal and Pop Culture site. That site sure does love having all the comic book things and action figure stuff but as I examine the aisles I am making numerous other engagements with vendors whose items are far off that mark. Since I have some photos of these wonderful sights I’ll be assembling a few short chapters right here on the PiercingKen.com site for your enjoyment and education. If this works out well enough, perhaps I will expand upon the idea with the 2016 coverage if I am attending the convention. It’s all aimed at raising your awareness of the cool things we are observing in our Metropolis and to bring some hopefully interesting growth to the PiercingKen.com website. Those posts will fall under the Event Reviews area and shall start being posted in the coming days. See you then.

Just a quick post to let our readers of the PiercingKen.com site know that I was once again attending Toy Fair as a member of the accredited press and would be covering the event over on PiercingMetal.com. This will be my fifth year attending and I would be joined by Skeleton Pete for this adventure as well. This year the plan on delivery of the coverage will be a bit different and instead of lumping all of the events and sights together in one weeks time over a select handful of postings, I will instead be adding posts for the next several weeks and perhaps months for your larger enjoyment. The rationale behind this is based on the fact that so many of the items seen in said visuals will not be out for months.

Thanks for listening, please stay tuned for more PiercingKen observations as they come to me. With PiercingMetal.com now in its new fashion, this blog will be used more often to spotlight some of the stuff that we want to be sure that you see. Just an FYI that comments have been disabled for this post and can instead be left on the various topics that are applicable over on PiercingMetal.com
The other day I attended a brand new convention that was being held at the Javits Center and called “Special Edition NYC”. It’s focus was on “Comics, Art, Culture” according to all the press copy and it was connected to the massive NY Comic Con under the direction of the folks at ReedPop. Since I was officially a part of the attending press, I covered the event over on PiercingMetal.com and you can see the chapters and all of the wonderful images that came along with it by clicking the logo right below.
I’m pretty excited because as I had previously noted on this blog, my PiercingMetal.com site is now being fully delivered in WordPress after over nine years of using a traditional static design with a side blog that was using the software. Going forward, the plan is to have everything that is presented on the two sides of PiercingMetal fall into the fresh installation. By the way, I’ve disabled the means to comment on this post and instead ask that if you’d like to add topical thoughts about the presentation that you please do so on any of the narratives you will see on PiercingMetal.com
