Back in July we participated in the first ever Toy Insider “Sweet Suite at Home” which in a nutshell was a virtual version of their always awesome in-person happening. My overview of that can be found HERE in case you missed it. Now it was time to do their holiday event known as the “Holiday Of Play” which as expected was also going to be a virtual event. Since that other coverage worked I was going to repeat the process so into the web we go…
Here are the presenting exhibitors and I was going to try and say “hello” or visit as many of the virtual booths as possible. Now I should mention that some companies are present to ask questions while some have videos ready for you to watch with the means of sending messages to get more information post event.
The layout is rather fun and you can move around the expo floor that you see below. For me its easier to log what I’ve done and keep notes by accessing the areas via that exhibitor map you saw up above. I will admit that the Holiday of Play @ Home seems to perform even more fluidly than the Sweet Suite @ Home one did so either they made it better or I am just used to it.
We’ve mentioned our love of Crayola over the years and what began as simple crayons has become so many amazing products and things that spark creativity. We have a strong appreciation for their cute color your pets and wash them to do it again and again. Very nice product for the younger creative in your family circle.
The Exploding Kittens team was doing video demos of the product and it is a silly fun game for sure. Very simple to play and get addicted to. I had a nice chat with the team since this was a Zoom conference.
Funko Games was something I first learned about at the Toy Fair earlier this year. They were a new acquisition for the company and now use their strategy game skill with collectible Funko miniatures. There are other games as well such as a cool Godzilla one that I am very interested in.
I didn’t spend a lot of time at LEGO but as you know I mostly focus on their Pop Culture stuff, like the superheroes and the Star Wars stuff. I’ve debated doing some kind of unbox and build clip but I am not super fast at assembling these things and I’d have to run the video in fast mode LOL.
I didn’t speak to anyone at Mattel but will point out that some cool things are coming for the Barbie line of fashion dolls and their Hot Wheels. Stay tuned for items from them as we are made aware of it.
It’s without question that we love Playmates Toys. They are the holder of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles license and delivered a lot of cool Voltron Legendary Defender stuff when the series ran. This time around they will be releasing “Godzilla Vs. Kong” products and that is right up my alley. If I get anything to discuss, it will be done on PiercingMetal since that is the level of geek we approach on that site.
While I don’t always manage to do much with the Play Monster offerings, I have used their little mascot in a number of my images over the last few years. At one Toy Fair they gave me a dozen of them to give out and they were welcome gifts. This time I found myself incredibly fascinated by the Snap Ships and I will be looking more into them post event. That might make a fun video as well.
Though I didn’t need any assistance from the Press Room I did pop by to say hellos and to thank them for including “The Chronicles” and PiercingMetal at this year’s happening.
Sadly, I didn’t manage to be at the actual virtual stage when they were doing anything. I had my hands full for the most part from the moment this began until it ended.
They had a photo booth opportunity once again and this time around I just chose to be more “normal” than creative. Last time I had the face mask, sunglasses and such but this time its just me, my Thor’s hammer and a Finnish Metal band shirt. Always representing.
In case you didn’t realize, this is directly from our Official Instagram for “The Chronicles” so please visit the profile, follow the account and like, like, like to your heart’s content.
Well that’s about it and it’s time to wrap things up. I hope you enjoyed the virtual overview and will look into some of the companies and items that I discussed up above. This “Holiday of Play @ Home” will mark my 11th Toy Insider event and I look forward to more. Many thanks to The Team at the Toy Insider and Pop Insider for giving us the chance to participate.
