Scenes From The 2021 International Franchise Expo

Slowly but surely the world is returning to a somewhat normalized sense from the choking grip of the Coronavirus Pandemic and while some expos like the International Franchise Expo have decided to press forward and take place in-person, there were a number of cancellations that we’ve already lined out right here on “The Chronicles of Piercing Ken”. For those who’ve fallen behind I am speaking of the New York International Auto Show, The NY Luxury Design Fair and The Summer Fancy Food Show. The IFE would be my second time back in the Javits Center after an 18 month break in doing so when we hit the NY Now event.

After confirming my vaccination status with the NYS Excelsior app, and wearing this very visible wristband and a face mask I was good to go. And now into the Expo we go…

As I got the general lay of the land of the brand new floor I was now on, I had to admit that I didn’t know where to begin. It wasn’t long past lunchtime and when I saw people walking past me in the aisle eating chicken I knew that it would be my first stop.

One of the kind reps from “Mad About Chicken”. Inside the boxes were seasoned wings and I had a couple of them. So tasty.

These next bunch of visuals I am trying something different with and integrating our Official Instagram into the WordPress narrative a little bit more than I normally would. The idea is to promote said Gram and get our readers more engaged there as well. If you are a New Yorker there is likely no better treat than an original Nathan’s Famous hot dog so I was happy to see their team growing the franchise. Especially since it was close to lunchtime and they were serving them up.

I’m not the biggest study of Ramen dishes but I do like what I’ve had when I had it. Marufuku Ramen were serving cups of the delicacy and I enjoyed it.

This was a very tasty ice cream. I don’t have any nut allergies but know so many with this today that I am glad there is a safe product for them to enjoy this kind of treat.

The Pieology crew intrigued me for sure but didn’t have any samples outside of an awesome pizza-slice costume that their rep was sporting. Fortunately for me, I live in Brooklyn and am surrounded by some truly amazing pizza.

I think it’s safe to say that New York City also has the best bagels and if you are from elsewhere the Bagel Boss has you covered. They even had condiments like the Everything Bagel stuff for you to put on other things if you wanted to. I told them they needed to ship out bialies since the proper ones are just not available down South where the folks are and they LOVE them. I bring a bag or three every time I visit.

Though I was saddened by the lack of any product to sample at the Ice Cream Emergency setup, I was super impressed by what it was and think this is a fantastic idea and one that’s perfect for block parties, festivals of certain kinds and food shows.

I was fascinated by the process of the Brooklyn Dumpling Shop.

These next few franchises didn’t have samples of any kind based on the logistics involved but they had groups of people discussing the opportunities. I’ve only ever experienced the Golden Corral which is a popular place down south where my family now lives and we pay them a visit at least once when I am visiting.

That’s going to bring me to the end of this one. I stuck to the food vendors and snapped the ones that were not too busy arranging franchisees. This is an interesting show and one that I enjoy bringing to your attention. These days the world is thinking differently based on the pandemic and many are choosing to leave their locations and their traditional office spaces to try something different that rewards them inside as much as pays the bills. It was also very interesting to explore this new expanded space of the Javits Center. I wonder which trade shows and conventions will make use of this portion of the massive venue. I will guess that Toy Fair and New York Comic Con since those shows are massive.
