Some of you already know about this feature but perhaps there are those who don’t and with that being said let me inform those new to “The Chronicles of Piercing Ken” website that for the last few years I’ve sat down and cobbled together a complete rundown of the annual marathon of episodes of the classic comedy series “The Honeymooners”. This marathon is presented to us by the fine folks at PIX11 and they’ve been doing this kind of thing for as long as I can remember. From my checking the past posts, it seems like I’ve been posting about this since the 2019/2020 marathon and I kept it going when the world was better enjoyed from inside the confines of our own dwellings in 2021 for the most part. I did it again for 2022 and now I guess its something of a tradition for the site since we are constantly doing Pop Culture Film and Television posts. Clearly the last few years have knocked the wind out our sails but slowly and surely we are trying to get back to as normal as we can and the familiarity of “The Honeymooners” marathon is a good way to look ahead positively. For sure 2022 as a year was miles better in many instances but the way that we were in “The Before Times” has not yet returned for most of us. Thought I’ve been going to concerts and conventions throughout 2022, I will admit that I approached them differently and wasn’t going to everything that happened and we are fully vaccinated. If you have the space on your DVR you should start programming them now so you are able to switch channels to your favorite network to watch the ball drop before you return to the fun of “The Honeymooners”. I didn’t program this last year but think that I will this time around despite my owning the DVD of what they call “The Classic 39”. As we’ve found in the past marathons, some of the funniest and best of the episodes will be aired so head over to WPIX 11 and spend some time in Brooklyn with Ralph Kramden, Ed Norton, Alice Kramden and Trixie Norton and just relax for awhile. The shows begin at 11PM and run continuously into New Year’s Day with a pause for other programming from 7AM until Noon. Let’s take a look.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: This year the network is airing “26” of the episodes from the full original series “39” classic episodes which is a few less than the previous year. The break in the marathon is now a five hour one and while I understand the need to have sponsor programming, nobody is going to be watching that stuff after a night of revelry so they should have only broke for a brief news hour and then got back right back to the laughs. You’ll need some space on the DVR if you are planning on programming them or enough allowed space on whatever cloud-based system might be available. I recorded this AND “The Twilight Zone” marathon a couple of years ago but this time around will likely only do that for “The Honeymooners”. I still have other things on my DVR that I need to finish before taking on a second lengthy marathon. As it stands at the moment of my posting this announcement, I might be able to stick right with the marathon before and after the ball drops and welcomes us to 2023. I’ve kept my New Year’s Eve simple for the last few years but say if you do have plans out there that you please be smart about it. If you are planning on watching the marathon please chime in down below and maybe let me know what some of your favorite episodes are. By the way, this list is culled from numerous television programming sites and could change if something merits it. If something doesn’t play for some reason or episodes are switched up don’t come yelling at me as I am NOT responsible for that. I make this list and leave it alone. You’ll want to send any angry stuff directly to the network. This might very well be different outside of New York City but I wouldn’t know. Let me close by wishing you an early “Happy New Year” and I hope that you are going to be playing it safe and that 2023 is full of positive promise and special memories for all of us.
PS: The SyFy Network is running a “The Twilight Zone” Marathon but that begins tomorrow morning at 5AM. I shared the rundown of those episodes on the PiercingMetal website so check out the listing by clicking HERE
