We’ve just learned that the producers of “Diana The Musical” have announced the shows sunset. The musical is currently running at the Longacre Theatre on 48th Street and only had just re-opened. They took to the plays Official Facebook and announced the last performance will take place on December 19th.
As you might expect, the play is a celebration of the life of the late Princess Diana and is set to a rocking musical score that is quite enjoyable. Music and lyrics are care of David Bryan from Bon-Jovi. The plays book and lyrics are the work of Tony award winner Joe DiPietro.
The Cast:

The Instagram above comes from our Official Account and originates from some part-time work we are doing with Broadway theatres. I am happy to share these images here once more for those who enjoyed the play or hope to now catch it during its final performances. Obviously there are no live action images because you are not permitted to do such things. These are the visuals I observed from behind the scenes while on site. Though I am unsure if I will be back at this theatre I am happy to report that I saw this show 2.5x based on the work. I really enjoyed it and thought that both De Waal and Kaye were exceptional in the roles of Diana and Queen Elizabeth. The show was corny at times but what isn’t these days. The music was solid and the entire cast seemed to give it their all during the show. Audience members I spoke to really liked it as well so I feel this closure is a bit premature and my editorial standpoint is that the show deserved better. We wish the greatest of success to all those in the company of players and those behind the scenes. Broadway has suffered enough during this pandemic and it is still dusting itself off from it by coming back slow and sure. Let’s hope this is the only casualty of the season.
