Hello my friends and ardent readers of “The Chronicles” of Piercing Ken; It’s once again time for me to take a moment out of your day to discuss some of the social networking stuff that is happening over on the PiercingMetal.com side of the fence. I’ve been forced to do this based on the overall amount of content that I am posting over there as opposed to here to be sure that you will see it and not find the updates lost in the shuffle. Truth be told, “The Chronicles” has been my dual-branded editorial soapbox for some time now and that’s fine by me since we not only end up sharing some inside news but we also up the amount of content here. That being said, this post is to let you know that PiercingMetal.com has been using its Tumblr account for “11” years now and that’s pretty cool. Readers of PiercingMetal.com might recall that it was this past April that the website celebrated its fifteenth year of online service (discussed HERE).
This year has been a tough one for many and proper celebrations were not all that easy or even possible in most cases and that found me using this Tumblr medium a whole lot more based on it being a feed to content being presented on the PiercingMetal.com website. There were also times when I would share our Piercing Ken postings but it was not as much as I would have liked to do. The Tumblr profile is basic text and a link to the website but I like that it pulls in the tags from the posts and is sent there by only clicking a box in my Administration Panel. The account actually hit a milestone of “4000” posts a few months ago as well. I discussed that HERE and wish that I had been more diligent in sharing everything but I just didn’t. Still, 4K posts on a account that leads readers to my main website isn’t too bad at all. Since that achievement I have been making sure that every single WordPress from the PiercingMetal side of the fence post gets shared to the Tumblr and even some of my Instagram posts as well since I have an Official Account over there as well.
Those who follow the technical side of the world might recall that the Tumblr environment was purchased last August by the makers of WordPress and I helped share that news from Automattic HERE. It’s been a year now since they bought it and while I haven’t heard of any sweeping changes to the process, it wouldn’t surprise me if Tumblr goes away at some point or becomes some kind of WordPress mobile feed for the free accounts. I’ll worry about that when the time comes but if you are using this software and feel you don’t see my posts over on the Official Facebook because of their algorithm, this will make sure that you don’t miss a trick. Thanks for reading, I look forward to keeping you entertained during a trying time. Stay safe out there.
Update 10/1/2020: Since the time of this original posting, the long-standing Tumblr used by PiercingMetal has been rebranded to serve our new Ken Pierce Media angle. We hope that this change makes it a better experience for the readers of both of our websites going forward. Stay tuned for more as I’ve got some cool plans to share with you.
