The trend of Broadway shows becoming feature films isn’t something new as we’ve seen with movies for “Rent”, “Little Shop of Horrors”, “Hair” and so many more that were based om their original Broadway performances. In many cases I think this is rather cool since let’s face it, Broadway shows are rather expensive and not everyone from around the world can attend a performance. The latest hit to move to the big screen is “Wicked”, a truly magical story about the times before “The Wizard of Oz” film and the early lives of Galinda and Elphaba. There is a truly star-studded cast in this one and I’ve shared the first trailer down below along with the premise, casting and some artwork. Take a look.

The Premise: Elphaba, a misunderstood young woman because of her green skin, and Glinda, a popular girl, become friends at Shiz University in the Land of Oz. After an encounter with the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, their friendship reaches a crossroads.

Laitman Director, Museum of Arts and Design. “The Museum has long been interested in the cultural impact of art and design in all spheres, including pop culture.
