“Among The Drinking”; The Anthrax “Wardance” Beer Tasting @ Daddy-O NYC

Just the other day, the Butternuts Beer and Ale Company hosted a tasting of the brand new Anthrax inspired beer called “Wardance” and since I was unable to be a part of this myself, I asked our good friend “Jumpin'” Joe Kaufman to go in my place. Readers of the PiercingMetal.com site know that Joe helps out when possible over there so here are the thoughts that he had about the experience.

I had a fun and indulgent Monday night attending a beer launch/tasting for Anthrax’s new signature beer “Wardance” brewed by the Butternuts Brewery. It was held at Daddy-O, a cozy little bar with an excellent spirit selection and friendly knowledgeable staff In the West Village on Bedford St. NYC. It was a fun event, Frank Bello even stopped by to support the launch party.

Getting “Pie-eyed” For Australia Day 2017 @ 3JP

Last Sunday, this year’s “Australia Day” was being celebrated a couple of days later at the Three Jolly Pigeons bar in my own Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and I was very much looking forward to the festivities because I wanted to get completely “pie-eyed”. Oh I’m not referring to drinking a single drop of alcohol mind you, because when I said “pie-eyed” it was to enjoy the culinary treats that His Royal Pieness had cooked up and was serving until the supplies ran out. I used my mobile for the images from the time spent, so please enjoy.

This year His Royal Pieness had cool shirts with an awesome dinosaur on them oh and before you ask, HRP is actually named Callum Sigg and you will meet him later on in the presentation.

No Stats For You! Compete.com Has Dissolved

Earlier today, I went to check my account on the COMPETE.com website since I had not done so in quite a while. For those who don’t know much about this website, let me explain that Compete.com is a statistical measure that is aimed at giving website developers and owners an better idea of where their outlets stand in the larger scheme of all things Internet. I used this one sporadically and only ever with the free options and this was the sight that opened up on my screen.

Yep, it seems as this one is off to the great Internet beyond and one would have to assume that the amount of resources that are necessary to continually provide statistical measures were just too high against the money coming in from those who chose the professional package of services. Believe it or not my friends, websites of all different types can and do often go away. Just look back at Friendster, Tribe.net and so many more that I cannot line out here in this little narrative. So why even bring this up you might ask and well the answer is simple since I am one of those web providers who enjoys learning about this stuff and knowing how my creativity is being received by the general Internet public. In my real life workaday world, I used to be a Technical Support Supervisor so I have a pretty solid understanding of a bunch of technical principles and that makes me fascinated by this stuff. If you were a customer of Compete.com I hope that you can get some kind of refund or at least refuse any past couple of months charges to your card if you didn’t know they were going away and they were billing you. If you are looking for some means of knowing your websites statistics or just feel like looking up sites like this one or my PiercingMetal.com one, you can use any of these other resources. Each of them feeds different data pools to compile their numbers but its still rather interesting to see what’s going on behind the scenes in the websites you like.

Sharing My Swarm 2016 Year In Review

It’s without question that I consider myself a very active Social Networker and while I have the expected Facebook profile, I am using things like Yelp, Foodspotting, Foursquare and Swarm much more when it comes to my visits to clubs, restaurants and bars. Each of these networks offers me the ability to share over to Facebook but to be brutally honest I don’t always feel like doing that. Swarm is connected to Foursquare and is the “check in” app that they created. Essentially you arrive at a place and find it on Swarm and log it in. Each check in earns you phony coins and shows you a “leader board” against those in your friends list. I get a kick out of it and recently was sent an email denoting my 2016 highlights. I downloaded the images and figured I would speak about some of them in a site post. Here we go.

Swarm calculated that I checked in some “622” times but the actual number is much higher since I didn’t always remember to do it. It happens.

I’m almost embarrassed by it disclosing that I like going to bars. It’s true that they are often the pre-concert pit stop to meet friends and to eat but in my defense I didn’t always have a drink of alcohol. I’m a lightweight and last year I did quick a few months without anything of the sort in my system, but that is a topic for another post – maybe 🙂
