The Press Release:
NY NOW®, the modern wholesale market for retailers and specialty buyers seeking diversity and discovery, has decided, based on recent developments related to the COVID-19 pandemic, and after consultation with our community partners, to cancel the NY NOW Fall Edition and co-located National Stationery Show, which had been scheduled for October 18-20, 2020, at the Jacob Javits Center.

Recent developments have made it impossible to bring buyers and brands together safely and successfully. This is due to the ongoing progression of the COVID-19 pandemic in the U.S., including the latest government data, measures, and guidelines on the phased reopening plans in the U.S.; the number of confirmed cases worldwide and domestically; current quarantines, containment areas, stay at home orders, and restrictions on congregating and large gatherings imposed by states and other government and public health authorities; travel restrictions into the New York City area; and the various company-imposed travel restrictions on employees affecting attendees and participating companies.

“We are naturally disappointed not to have the opportunity to bring our community together face-to-face in New York City. However, we remain committed to finding ways to connect our brands, designers, makers and retailers with NY NOW’s hallmark spirit of discovery,” said Tim Hart, SVP, NY NOW. “Our attention will now turn to NY NOW Winter 2021 and our digital offerings. Since March, we have been pleased to provide practical and relevant content to our community through our webinar and podcast program and have seen some fantastic engagement. In a spirit of innovation and discovery, we will continue to develop ways to provide meaningful digital connections and will update you as our plans develop,” added Hart.

Piercing Ken Thoughts: I recently pointed out in another events cancellation news that I am not really surprised anymore when I learn about them because its almost a daily occurrence. This event is very new to me as a lifestyle content creator and while its been happening for years I have only just begun attending this. It’s a fantastic event if you maintain an outlet like this one, and since I always can use your attention, a whole lot of photos from this can be found on our Official Instagram so be sure to follow that account and like, like, like to your hearts content. Though it saddens me greatly that yet another event that I have enjoyed is being cancelled, the larger public safety is much more important. Considering how close this was supposed to be to the annual New York Comic Con, one has to wonder if that will be getting cancelled as well. I honestly feel that nothing will be able to take place until Spring of 2021 at this point but let’s not be a negative nelly and keep our fingers crossed for the best possible outcome. Remember to stay healthy and safe out there my friends. Wear a mask and practice social distancing and by all means follow the directives of your respective locality for good measure. See you next time.
