NYC GUILD OF MUSIC SUPERVISORS (GMS) EDUCATION EVENT & FILM FESTIVAL. Returning for its second year, top music supervisors and executives in film, television, games, advertising, trailers and emerging media give Mondo attendees a unique opportunity to meet, network and learn from some of the leading names in the business for a full day on Friday, October 18 starting at 9am.

CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION (CLE) MUSIC & TECH LAW SYMPOSIUM. Powered by Covington & Burling LLP and the Recording Artists Project (RAP) at Harvard Law School, sponsored by Michelman & Robinson LLP, Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP, and Moses & Singer LLP. Join key leaders in a day-long entertainment law symposium on Friday, October 18 starting at 8am.

PRO BONO SESSIONS FOR INDEPENDENT MUSICIANS. Friday October 18 starting at 11am, RAP at Harvard Law School gives musicians a chance to meet with Harvard Law School students under the supervision of attorneys at the Williamsburg Hotel for individual face-to-face interaction.

A FIRESIDE CHAT WITH MICHAEL DORF. Visionary entrepreneur, creator of two iconic music venues –The Knitting Factory and City Winery – concert promoter, vintner and philanthropist Michael Dorf will discuss his incredible career and new book, Indulge Your Senses: Scaling Intimacy in a Digital World, in an intimate fireside chat, Wednesday, October 16.

SPECIAL APPEARANCES:

Joining us for a special appearance at Mondo 2019 will be Hank Shocklee, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, music producer, composer, DJ and all around musical disruptive innovator. Shocklee, best known as the architect of Public Enemy’s “wall of noise” sound via his BOMB SQUAD productions, is currently President of Shocklee Entertainment.

Also appearing, Paul D. Miller, aka DJ Spooky, is a composer, multimedia artist, and writer whose work immerses audiences in a blend of genres, global culture, and environmental and social issues. Miller has collaborated with a vast array of recording artists, including Metallica, Chuck D, Steve Reich, and Yoko Ono.

Piercing Ken Thoughts: Since I didn’t manage to get to last year’s event I can’t say much more than that this does sound very interesting. If I am able to work out the time in the always shifting schedule I might try to do this one or at least keep track of any interesting Metal bands that might be doing one of the showcases.
