Considering the era in which I attended college (late eighties to early nineties), there was no escaping the music of Madonna if you were seeking to do so. Now at the time I was a tried and true Heavy Metal musician but had to admit that I enjoyed a number of songs that the singer offered up and it was without question that she possessed immeasurable talent. Now, some thirty years after I first heard her songs, she is embarking on her “Madame X” tour and this one will hit more intimate theater spaces. Check out the press release below and the run of North American dates.
The Press Release:
Beginning September 12th at the BAM Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn, New York, Madonna will perform multiples nights each in a handful of cities, including the Chicago Theatre in Chicago, the Wiltern in Los Angeles, the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, the Boch Center Wang Theatre in Boston, the Met Philadelphia and the Jackie Gleason Theatre at the Fillmore Miami Beach. So far, only the dates for New York, Chicago and Los Angeles have been confirmed.
Madame X, out June 14th, will be a collection of 15 new songs “that celebrate Madonna’s career-long affair with Latin music and culture as well as other global influences,” according to a publicist statement. So far she’s released two tracks from the record: “Medellin,” a duet with Colombian pop star Maluma, and the uplifting anthem “I Rise.”
Madonna most recently performed “Medellin” at the Billboard Awards, and was also honored this week at the GLAAD Media Awards, where she gave an emotional acceptance speech for her Advocate for Change Award. Advance ticket requests for the Madame X tour are available through Friday, May 10th, with ticket confirmation to be fulfilled by May 17th.

Piercing Ken Thoughts: Though I’ve been a live music scribe and photographer for about sixteen years, I’ve never tried to ply my craft at a Madonna show. Truth be told I would never put such stuff on PiercingMetal but now that The Chronicles of Piercing Ken has garnered an audience and following of its own, who knows what the future might bring. With Madonna doing “17” shows in my beloved Brooklyn, I would definitely be game to test my skills. What about you lifer fans of the entertainer? Will you be going to one or more of these shows across the run of the tour? Considering that she is playing at smaller rooms than places like Madison Square Garden or Barclays Center, I’d venture to guess that tickets will go just as fast as they do for the New York Comic Con. Chime in down below with your thoughts and let me know where you are planning on seeing her. See you next time with whatever hits my agenda list next.
