It was only a few days ago that I shared with the readers of The Chronicles that I had gotten a few of posts online from my exploration of the recent NY Comic Con. If you didn’t see that stuff please click HERE so you can enjoy the bevy of posts. Now it’s time for something completely different.
During my Day One explorations of the NYCC, I encountered the Schick Hydrobot and here is a good look at him.
He was not only taking photos with the attendees of the convention, but also inviting those of the appropriate age to make an appointment to get a fresh shave by a professional barber who would use the brand new Schick Hydro razor. I said “why not” and made an appointment to return later in the day.
Here are the tools of the trade for today’s experience. Truth be told I had never actually gone for a professional shave ever and instead always use my trusty Norelco electric shaver. It works for me because I have a bit of a tough beard if I let it go a day or so between shaves.
I didn’t really “need” a shave since it was only the afternoon and I had done this before leaving for the convention but what the heck. Now it’s time to get lathered up and try to be quiet. The photos were all taken by Schicks PR rep Kayla.

Though I don’t know if you can tell from this photo of Hydrobot and I, I did now have a super smooth face again thanks to the skills of the onsite barber. While I don’t see myself switching from using my electric rotary razor, I’d be willing to use this Schick Hydro again should I want the traditional shaving experience.
At the convention they were giving out coupons for a free razor so I took a few to keep for myself but also to share with friends. If this interests you at all, I say hit the website link below and poke around for coupons. I am not sure if this exact model has a ladies version but a few women I spoke to about this part of the convention said that they generally prefer the mens razors to the ones that are aimed at them citing they are better. Who knew. Oh and hey before I close this one out, they also had copies of the “Hydrobot Meets The Transformers” comic book on hand to take away.
