Today is Saint Patrick’s Day and I apologize for not really having a whole ton of photos representing the green but I actually didn’t see all that many in my travels and have been busy working on some of the other ideas that I have for the website. I did find the sign at the local Bridgeview Diner interesting as it lauded “Saint Patrick’s Week”. My guess is the upcoming parade that I usually feature here for you out of towners is the rationale behind that. I always enjoy that parade and will hopefully be there on Sunday 3/26 when it happens. Stay tuned.
So I was in the diner to get myself an order of the corned beef and cabbage dinner. I love the stuff and its a tradition that I try to keep up with every year. I’ve never tried to cook this for myself though since I don’t actually think I am patient enough but maybe the next time around I will give it a go. The order came with an ample supply of the corned beef, the cabbage, two potato wedges and two carrot pieces. The whole thing is NOT pictured in the photo. I had the rest a little while after finishing the first plate. They provided a couple of slices of rye bread but honestly they should have prepared some traditional soda bread instead. That makes more sense to me. I also had a bowl of their split pea soup that came with it but that is not pictured. There you have it.
