Give My Regards To “BroadwayCon” 2018 @ Javits Center (Act 3)

Surprise my friends and “Welcome Back” once more to my overview of the 2018 BroadwayCon. As I noted at the closing of my “Act 2” posting, I had secured a press badge and was welcomed back to the event but at the time I was unsure if I would finish with the Progressive Boat Show and the New York Times Travel Show which were running concurrently in the Javits Center over the same few days. Luckily, I did finish and made sure to go back to it and if you didn’t see the chapters, err “ACTS” that preceded this one, just click HERE to be up to speed. I had such a good time with that other day so was looking forward to adding some more to this serialized narrative. Let’s go.

Hey Spider-Man, I hate to tell you this but you are at the wrong convention, you need to wait until October for the New York Comic Con to be effective – oh wait!  There was a play called “Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark” – I never got to check that out but many said it was not good at all.

I greatly enjoyed the Broadway-esque Cosplay and here’s Eliza Doolittle, The Wicked Witch Of The West” and some “Phantom Of The Opera”.

In the previous installment, I snapped a photo of the folks from the company “Scenery” and they make a wide assortment of carrying cases, covers and the like from the stage dressings from older plays. That’s a great way to give you a special keepsake to protect something of importance and prevent more things going into a landfill. If they end up adding anything from Heavy Metal bands that I like I can see myself purchasing.

These folks represent the Beltbox.  This is a useful tool for singers everywhere and I’m going to be telling all of the vocalists I know to look into this one.

Though I’ve discussed this topic on PiercingMetal.com a number of times, I don’t think the readers of “The Chronicles” are aware of my being a collector of assorted comics, cards and action figures. When I learned about these Broadway Trading Cards, I had to showcase them because they were awesome.

A friend had their collection with them and showed just how concerned for the collection they were.  I also have a similar book and protective sleeves over a few series of KISS trading cards.  It’s the only way to do this after all.

Here is the creator of the cards, Mr. Justin “Squigs” Robertson.

Several different plays have their own set of cards and I imagine that this makes it easier to get a complete set of a particular grouping.

This scene made my inner and outer geek overflow with awesome.  Collectors of the cards sitting and examining each others collection and trading with each other so all would have a better stockpile.

I just had to ask one of the kids if our friend, the talented Lena Hall might have had a card of her own and by George, she did!!!!  They let me hold it and snap this photograph.  As you might notice, these cards are perfect to capture signatures of the talent on using a Sharpie.  I would recommend the black marker as opposed to the silver since that texture is weird in protective sleeves.  The black looks nice and doesn’t destroy anything.  Happy collecting.

Sadly, I didn’t think to capture a few moments of young miss Carly Gendell who was belting it out at the Broadway Star Project booth.  Wow did she have a set of pipes on her.

Now it’s time to really take the final bow for this group of narratives because I have no other images left to share with you. We are at the end of the BroadwayCon 2018 Overview and can honestly say that if you are a fan of the theatre or have a sibling or child interested in the arts, that something that this event might really be of interest to them. I will say that I perused the website for the prices and they are a little steep when compared to some other things that you can attend, but of course this event brings out things that you will not be getting anywhere else. There were workshops and performances along the three days as well as some panels and a bunch of autograph signings but I didn’t have the chance to see what they were about since I had to divide and conquer. At the end of the day this all amounted to being a Media Trifecta for me, and mind you I sported all three of my press badge all weekend to show that I meant business LOL. As we wrap this up I will again suggest that you not only click through on some of the links down below but that you also get on point with “The Chronicles” on the Social Networks of Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. I don’t want you to miss anything that we discover and end up talking about. See you next time and I hope you enjoyed this convention adventure.

2021 Update: In 2021 a series of “Convention Flashback” videos were created and uploaded to the Official YouTube for The Chronicles of Piercing Ken. Here is our video of the images and fun found at BroadwayCon 2018.
