Yes my friends it was that time of year again for the NYC Hot Sauce Expo and if you can believe it, we are now at the 4th Annual Expo. It was once again being held at the spacious Brooklyn Expo Center which I love as an event space since its in my way back in history neighborhood of Greenpoint and is not too far from the waterfront which offers attendees a magnificent view of Manhattan. I’ll share some images of that in a post that will follow the Expo coverage. With this year’s convention I’ve decided to offer it up here on The Chronicles because truth be told its more in line with our other adventures for this site. Some of the longer time readers might remember that I covered the first three events over on PiercingMetal.com and those interested in the historical side of the event need only click HERE to see the gamut.
My Foodie Media Mission begins with my running into Purple Pam who is a Rock singer from NYC. She fronts a kickass group called The Flesh Eaters and I’ll try to get some music reviewed on the other site. Here we find Pam pitching her own brand of hot sauce and it sure did have a kick.
Today I was going to start by exploring what was happening in the VIP section before it got too crowded. It’s better to share its awesome offerings without a crowd pushing into you while you hope to get a shot. Oh and I mean one with the camera. This time around of couse. Here are the lovely ladies repping the Stoli Vodka brand.
Though I’m not the biggest spirits guy, I do like the taste of rum, and the Bayou Rum brand is fan-tas-tic.
You might think the statement bold but in truth Tabasco is the brand that started it all and its still a quality offering so many years later. Their reps had some wonderful offerings to sample and purchase.
Back to the booze, have you given a taste to Evan Williams Bourbon? Here is your chance to do that.
Perhaps Jack Daniels is the brand of whiskey that you prefer. When I choose to drink it I must have it mixed with Coca-Cola. I said I was a lightweight and I am good with that. I’ve met their lovely rep at conventions before and it was a nice surprise to see her again.
While we might be in beautiful Greenpoint Brooklyn, the spirit of Coney Island was present thanks to the awesome offerings by the Coney Island Brewing Co. Look at this awesome schwag to take home with you.
At this station you could get a thermal photo taken of you after trying some hot sauce. Yes I did this.
It was surely a hot time in the old town this afternoon and now I have a photograph of it as well.
Metal heads will want to check out Eddie Ojeda’s “Twisted” Hot Sauce company. Folks who don’t follow the music scene should be aware that Eddie is a member of Twisted Sister.
Some of Eddie’s family and partners in Hot Sauce.
Eddie Ojeda himself was at the expo and helping move the sauces from their booth into your homes (by the sales of course) and its always great to see him. I hope that the band brings their show to NYC as they have recently announced their “Farewell Tour”. If you enjoy their music or want to check out what I have written about them on PiercingMetal.com just click HERE.
The Angry Irishman was here and angrier than ever when it comes to dishing out the hot sauce.
If he was wearing a stethoscope I’d call him Doctor Pepper, okay I realize that is horrible but who doesn’t love running into the folks at Torchbearer Sauces.
When your mouth is on fire you might think that ice cold water will do the trick but you would be wrong. You need milk and here to help you quell the fires within were the folks from Farmland Fresh Dairies.
I’m going to make this attendee photo my last one since its amazing in terms of a comedic shirt. Batman would be so angry at this one but I loved it.
I’m going to take a breather now and grab another glass of ice cold milk since my stomach is still yelling at me based on the overall amount of hot sauce that I put into it. Stay tuned for more from this years expo as I’ve plenty of other images to share with you. In the meantime you can click on some of the links below to learn more about the awesome vendors and other sights we examined up above – especially since we took some time to gather them all together for you. We’d also love for you to follow us on the Social Networks that we are using and I’m focusing on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
