I’m going to begin our presentation of Toy Fair 2017 visuals with the time-honored brand of Crayola. I’m pretty sure that everyone reading this website has owned a box or ten of their wonderful crayons and now with most of us being parents or older siblings and such to younger ones, the developments from this company are to be admired. Here we go.
I love the Crayola appointment because they have everything at stations and you get walked around to each and every one of them and get a demonstration of the latest product. This first item is called the “Magic Scene Creator” and it looked pretty interesting. Not only do you color on the screen but you can add these little character plastic pieces. Neat right?
This is called the “Color Wonder Mess Free Coloring” stuff and what an interesting product this was. You could only draw on the special paper with the implement and no place else. That eliminates the risk of drawing on the nice new dining room or coffee table.
Sadly, I was not able to bring my masterpiece of initials home with me based on the bag I was carrying. I know that many of you wanted to own this the second that you saw it. Maybe next time.
Here is the PERFECT thing for the youngest in your family circle. The “Color and Erase” Mat. Yeah they can color and you can erase. No fuss, no muss. Isn’t that awesome? It rolls up for easy transportation and can be brought ANYWHERE that you and the family are going.
Stickers are big again or actually have remained big among the younger fans. I wouldn’t know since I was never a sticker guy outside of leaving one with the bands name somewhere that it would be seen. This is the Crayola “Sticker Design Studio” which does exactly what you think it does. Allows you to make some colorful stickers.
This next item was fascinating. This is the Crayola “Fashion Superstar” kit and as the box denotes, allows you to create like a real fashion designer. We had a quick demo from a young lady who was working through this like a wizard and its connected to an app that the user downloads to their device but it only accesses a particular network so no creepers. Since I know a ton of friends with kids that are interested in fashionable things, I cannot wait for them to see this fun item. Nice work Crayola.
This product is called “Art Edge” and also very colorful and interesting.
The folks in Kid Robot have teamed up with Crayola on these interesting products. A blank figure to color as you wish with the proper markers and crayons that will actually remain on the plastic and these cool blind boxes.
Each blind box includes a character and if you are a fan of the premise these will surely appeal to you. I am not really the biggest fan of the blind bags or blind boxes. It’s lost on me, but what do I know.
This is a massive assortment of gifts for the holidays. The multi-pack of crayons and markers and pencils is superb and something that I think all up and coming artists should own.
I love weird stuff and the “Silly Scents” fall right into that category. They smell like a whole lot of things and as you will see in the coming photos, some are good smells and the others, well, not too much.
In my haste to get this into my bag I broke the thing. It looks like a Poptart but its a cruel deception done by an awesomely tasty cookie. The fine folks at Crayola have these on their entrance desk and offer them to their guests. I was saving this for later.
Earlier in the post I mentioned how we were taken around to numerous stations, and as we entered the gigantic booth, we were given an empty box which was labeled as Toy Fair 2017 and would be the place where we could stockpile our crayons to come. Initially I thought we were going to be brought to a troth of them but I was incorrect in that assumption.
Instead there were going to be eight NYC centric crayon colors, each handed to us by the representative at the station we examined and got a demo from. I thought that this was a terrific idea and it wasn’t until I was home that I realized I should have asked for some extra sets to do a giveaway of. Oh well, if they do this again next year I will be more on point.
Let’s also tip the hat to Crayola for winning one of the esteemed “Toy Of The Year” awards for their “Air Marker Sprayer”. This is a super cool device which we saw last year and the award is so very richly deserved.
That brings me to the end of this installment from the 2017 Toy Fair. As mentioned, I will be coming back in a couple of days for as long as it takes to share all of the coolness with you.
