It might not surprise you to know this information, but both the New York Times Travel Show and The New York Boat Show run in tandem at the Javits Center and last year was my first time attending both of these events. I’m happy to report that I was able to secure the proper media credentials and would be exploring the Industry Day which is for the professional side of the fence and approved press.
As I’ve done with the previous year, this is mostly a visual gallery of the fun that one can have as they chart their future travel adventures. I focused on the people more than a pile of brochures so let’s go.
Here’s author Stig Bareksten and his cocktail book “Min Gin”. He had samples of his own brand of the liquor for us to raise and say “Skal” to but I was doing the sober January and could not do it. Despite this it was nice to meet him.
This plate of authentic and absolutely amazing baklava was keeping the attendees need for sweets sated.
The booth showcasing the exotic continent of India was serving up Samosas. They were so damned good. Yes I did go back for a second one. It was Media Day so not as overcrowded as some of the other times this weekend.
This might interest the regular globetrotter as its a mobile hotspot that apparently works around the world. Maybe I will give this a try should I start to get out of the states. Of course I’ll need to get out of NYC more first but I digress.
That’s going to bring me to the end of this chapter from the adventuring at the NY Times Travel Show. This was a productive Media Day but I plan on coming back at least once more over the course of the weekend as time permits so make sure you are following “The Chronicles” of Piercing Ken on the social networks of Instagram, Facebook and Twitter so you can be there with me. I’ll put any additional photos on a second post since it involves a different day. See you next time around.
