Back in December I had the chance to attend a Holiday Mixer over at The Marlin Room at Webster Hall. This is a relatively new space in the building and essentially gives NYC a grand total of three venues in this location. That is great news if you are a musician and for those who are curious, this Marlin Room is slightly larger than the downstairs Studio. Anyway, after the party my buddy Skeleton Pete and I went downstairs to enjoy the music. Two of the bands that were performing at the time were Rhythm & Stealth and Jogyo. Check them out in these images.
These bunch of images are from the band Jogyo and I was not too sure what was going on in their presentation as I was a little back and forth when they were playing. It was interesting and as you can see their lead singer had some lovely backing performers adding dramatic atmosphere to their set. If what you see intrigues you I hope that you will dig deeper into what they are all about. Since I had the camera I got snapping and when I do that you get blog posts 🙂
Rhythm & Stealth was an interesting project and was started by Lex Sadler who plays the keyboards and assigns rhythmic patches via his Macbook while a drummer thunders out the beats and another offers up some additional guitar if necessary. This is pretty much a one man band that brings on the musicians that he needs for performances. I really enjoyed the presentation of Electronica that was going on with them and even made sure to snag a couple of candid shots after the set.
I apologize for not offering up larger worlds of information about either group but you can find out more on your own via their Official Pages on Facebook. Oh yes and before I go, there was one more band called Dynasty Electric who close up the night and already received their own posting HERE.
