It was a different world when we first touched upon the upcoming Disney Pixar release “Soul” and shared with the readership the first trailer (seen HERE in the event you missed it). Thanks to the continued issues surrounding this dreaded Coronavirus Pandemic, the film will no longer be premiering in theaters and will instead go directly to the Disney+ streaming service. The second trailer was recently unveiled and let’s take a look at that down below along with the background and the voice casting.
The Premise:
Joe Gardner, a middle school music teacher, has long dreamed of performing jazz music onstage, and finally gets a chance after impressing other jazz musicians during an opening act at the Half Note Club. However, an untimely accident causes Gardner’s soul to be separated from his body and begin to proceed to the Great Beyond, and Gardner escapes to the Great Before, a world where souls develop personalities, quirks, and traits before being sent off to Earth. There, Gardner must work with souls in training at the Great Before, such as 22, a soul with a dim view on the concept of life, in order to return to Earth before his body dies and also avoid a soul-counter named Terry, who goes to earth to find Joe and bring him back to the afterlife to meet her quota.

Piercing Ken Thoughts: When I posted about the first trailer, I mentioned that I felt this seemed like an interesting film but one that I was not planning on seeing in the theater. Now that its going to the Disney+ service I will definitely be setting aside some time for it since I am a subscriber. The best part about this is that Disney+ isn’t making it one of those “premium access” ideas like they did with “Mulan”. That notion tanked in case you hadn’t heard and the film was very ill-received. I don’t know what happened there because it did look interesting but I didn’t see it yet either so who knows. What about you readers? Are you on the Disney+ train yet? I had to sign up for the second season of “The Mandalorian” and all the Marvel Studios stuff that is coming down the pike. With this premiering on Christmas Day there’s a good chance I will be sitting down to enjoy it with the family. Let’s see what happens because I don’t know what I am doing yet with Halloween not even here yet. Chime in down below in the comments because its always great to hear from the readership. See you next time.
