The folks at CBS Studios have opted to give us a sequel to the world of FBI Agent Clarice Starling, and this is set shortly after the events of the book and film “The Silence Of The Lambs”. I loved that movie and I’ve got a sense of certainty that many of you did as well. The first trailer for the series that begins in February is available below along with some casting and promotional art.
The Premise: Set in 1993, a year after the events of The Silence of the Lambs, the series serves as a deep dive into the untold personal story of Clarice Starling, as she returns to the field to pursue serial murderers and sexual predators while navigating the high-stakes political world of Washington, D.C.
The Cast/Characters:
Rebecca Breeds as Clarice Starling
Devyn A. Tyler as Ardelia Mapp
Lucca De Oliveira as Tomas Esquivel
Kal Penn as Emin Grigoryan
Nick Sandow as Murray Clarke
Michael Cudlitz as Paul Krendler
Marnee Carpenter as Catherine Martin
Jayne Atkinson as Ruth Martin
Shawn Doyle as Clarice’s therapist
Tim Guinee as Novak
Piercing Ken Thoughts: Now while this looks like it can be an interesting show, I should point out that in doing some research about it, the series is NOT PERMITTED to even reference Hannibal Lecter at all. Sure the show is about the agent but you figure he would come up in conversation at some point. The reason is based on a rights issue so let’s see how it rolls. Nowadays the networks are not too forgiving about any kind of low ratings and stuff like this might be better served on a streaming service but that’s just my view. The trailer was interesting and I will program the show to see a few episodes before deciding on committing or not. What did you think? Chime in down below in the comments section. See you next time and “Happy New Year” once again. Please be careful out there.
