For the last few days, the Comic Con International: San Diego was taking over the San Diego Convention Center and one of the things that I look forward to from this massive event are the movie and television trailers that get revealed here. Three films that I was most interested in getting a glimpse at were coming from Warner Brothers Pictures with “Godzilla: King Of Monsters”, “SHAZAM!” and “Aquaman”. I didn’t attend this event and am actually enjoying some vacation time with my family. With that being said, I am using The Chronicles to direct you over to the individual posts about each of those films. Just click on the respective logo to be brought to them on the PiercingMetal.com website. I’ll begin with “Godzilla: King Of The Monsters” since this was the one that I was most excited about.
Next up, another installment in the DC Extended Universe with “Aquaman” who we all “met” in surveillance video during “Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice”. The King Of The Seven Seas would be a key factor in the “Justice League” film and probably one of its better inclusions. The reports were flying about this being a standalone film like “Wonder Woman” was and not truly connected to the DCEU but that is likely rambling since on many fronts they don’t know what they are doing in this connected universe.
Another superhero movies comes with DC Entertainment’s own Captain Marvel who is NOT being referred to as such in his film to avoid confusion with the Marvel Studios “Captain Marvel” film which will also come out in 2019. Instead, behold “SHAZAM!” (the magical phrase that transforms young Billy Batson into the World’s Mightiest Mortal).
Piercing Ken Thoughts: Normally I wouldn’t lump all of the trailers into one post, but this missive is more of a glorified traffic sign used to direct you to longer summaries over on PiercingMetal. Now that there is a “Film and Television” Category of its own on “The Chronicles”, I will be using it for films of this type and more as often as time permits. The time factor during my vacation found me needing to offer them up like this. While I prefer any lengthy comments be left on the PiercingMetal.com website under the respective narrative, readers of “The Chronicles” are welcome to let us know which of these films they are most excited about. Until we meet again.
As I’ve been ramping up the Film and TV content here on “The Chronicles”, I’m just going to keep on going with this revealed trailer for the new Matt Groenig show called “Disenchantment”. This will go to the Netflix streaming service and after the clip you can check out some premise and the voice cast. Don’t worry, I’ll also toss my personal editorial views in for good measure. Let’s go.
The Plot: Set in the medieval fantasy kingdom of Dreamland, the series follows the story of Bean, a rebellious and alcoholic princess, her naïve elf companion Elfo, and her “personal demon” Luci.
Abbi Jacobson as Princess Tiabeanie
Eric Andre as Luci & Pendergast
Nat Faxon as Elfo
John DiMaggio as King Zøg
Tress MacNeille as Queen Oona, Prince Derek & The Fairy
Maurice LaMarche as Odval, Big Jo & The Washmaster
David Herman as The Herald, Guysbert & Jerry
Sharon Horgan as Queen Dagmar
Lucy Montgomery as Bunty & The Enchantress
Billy West as Sorcerio, The Jester, Mertz & Pops the Elf
Jeny Batten as Kissy the Elf & Tess the Giantess
Rich Fulcher as Cloyd, Turbish
Matt Berry as Prince Merkimer
Noel Fielding as Stan the Executioner
Piercing Ken Thoughts: Since I’m still watching “The Simpson”s and really enjoyed “Futurama”, I’m going to give Matt’s latest offering a chance when it becomes available for streaming. The great thing about this being on Netflix is that no programming of the DVR is required and if you have a few hours to kill then a series like this can be blasted though in a day. I mean “binged”. The trailer seems funny and quirky and plays along with the mystical realms and the whole “Game Of Thrones” angle so perhaps it will be a nice dose of comedic fun. What do you readers think about this trailer? Will you be setting a reminder on whatever means you use to alert you on August 17th when the show becomes available? Chime in down below.
It was a few months ago when I posted the trailer for “Hotel Translyvania 3: Summer Vacation” (which you can see HERE) and now the day has arrived for the film’s opening. You can examine the Official Theatrical Poster by scrolling down and seeing the massive voice cast and premise as well.
Taking place a few months after the events of the previous film, the story centers on Dracula, Mavis, Johnny, and the rest of their family, both human and monster, and friends as they take a vacation on a luxury Monster Cruise Ship, where Dracula suddenly becomes attracted to the ship’s mysterious captain Ericka. What Dracula doesn’t know is that Erika is secretly the great-granddaughter of Abraham Van Helsing, the notorious monster slayer and Dracula’s ancient archenemy. Now it is time for Mavis to be the leader of the “Drac Pack” and rally up everyone so they can stop Erika and save Dracula, before it’s too late. (thanks Wiki). It’s without question that the work of author R.L. Stine is prolific and so many of my friends kids go to sleep with the nightlight on because of his works. A few years ago, we saw the first film to come from his creations and now a sequel is upon us. Check out the Official Trailer for “Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween” which heads our way closer to Halloween (but I bet you knew that already).
In the small town of Wardenclyffe on Halloween Night, two boys named Sonny and Sam find a manuscript in an abandoned house which was previously owned by R. L. Stine called “Haunted Halloween”. When they opened it, they unknowingly release Slappy who plans to cause a Halloween Apocalypse with the help of his monster allies. Now Sonny and Sam alongside Sonny’s sister Sarah must work to thwart Slappy’s plot before all is lost. Continue reading Sony Pictures “Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween” Official Trailer→
The official release of this Paramount Pictures animated feature isn’t until early 2019 but since we have a teaser trailer I figured let’s get it posted and spark up some advance interest. Here’s the brief clip for “Wonder Park” and I’ll follow it with some premise and the voice cast for good measure.
The Premise: A young creative girl named June, finds an incredible amusement park filled with fantastical rides and funny, talking animals called Wonder Land that was abandoned in the woods but soon realizes that the park came from her imagination and she is the only one who can save the magical place and revive the wonder with the help of the animals.
