Saying “Goodbye” To My Cat Spooke (1/20/2020)

It’s with an overwhelming and crushing sadness that I announce that my beloved black cat Spooke has left the realm for the Rainbow Bridge. She was just shy of her 18th birthday and was an amazing companion to me for sure. I’ve owned since her birth back in my old apartment and to say that I’ll miss her terribly is an understatement. Spooke was a very friendly and what amounted to a “talkative” cat. She loved attention and being a part of the conversation if it suited her. These photos are from the night before and the day of her last vet visit.

Spooke was the offspring of my rescue cat Shadow who I lost back in 2015 when she was just past around fourteen years old. Shadow was a very good and loving cat and is remembered HERE for those who are new to our writings about life and entertainment. While I am pretty much inconsolable at the moment based on the emptiness her loss has left me, I feel that in time an appreciation will come because at 17.75 years of a cat amounts to something in the mid-80’s if you were to work out her human years equivalent.

Spooke was pretty spry and active up until about a month ago when some weight loss and less activity became the case. She wasn’t as talkative and seemed to prefer being alone and as the animal studies say when the behavior and practices dramatically change its never a good sign. While I hated to make that decision it was indeed her time according to the vet and I made sure to stay with her until the very last second of her life when she closed her eyes that final time. Goodnight my Spooke, you were an amazing part of my world that was loved deeply. I will miss you beyond words that can be formed right now. Closing up, I wanted to put more historical photos up in this post but I don’t have the emotional strength for it and just want to tune out for a bit. Maybe around what would have been her birthday I will but I cannot think about that right now. Thanks to all who have called, texted or left a notice on my personal and site pages on Facebook. It’s all been comforting. Rest easy my sweet girl.

Happy New Year 2020 My Readers!!!

Good morning my Friends and those who are just happening by this here domain, let me be one of the first to wish you a very “Happy New Year”. I didn’t go crazy with any revelry last night as I’ve been on one of those sober months that you read about people doing at this time of the year. I actually started mine just before Christmas and figure I might wait until the annual Toy Fair if I am approved for that event. So the wonderful Queen of the Apartment, my black cat Spooke wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year as well and she was quite upset that the glasses were too big for her. She is a good sport with all the silliness that I include her in for sure. She is closing in on her 18th birthday this March.

spooke the cat, happy new year, new year's day

As you might already know if you’ve been reading this site for any measure of time, I generally like to post a dozen or so “principles” or thoughts on how to have a productive and positive New Year. Since my own day has started off like an Olympic Race I will need to return with the list in the coming days. I have about five convention pitches to work on at the moment for the shows that are happening at the end of the month and into February and that doesn’t even touch the stuff that is happening over on the PiercingMetal side of the fence. Stay tuned and until I get around to the longer list, be good to each other and your pets. Time is a precious commodity so use it well. See you soon.

Saks Fifth Avenue Holiday Presentation “Greatness Is Everywhere”

Last night I was braving the effects of what the news called a “Squall” to secure my annual Holiday Tree visuals and as expected, a part of this adventure is to stop and enjoy the holiday lightshow that gets put on by the famous Saks Fifth Avenue store. This years show was called “Greatness Is Everywhere” which connects to the “Frozen II” film I am told. Since I didn’t see the picture I will have to trust what I’ve read. It’s only about three minutes in length so sit down, relax and enjoy and consider giving the channel a little love by clicking “Subscribe”.

Production Notes:
This year I secured the clip via my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and didn’t use a conventional camera at all. Heck, I didn’t even snap photos of the trees with one and instead opted to be phone only for a change. Considering the brief bit of snow that we had, I preferred the device getting wet to be my encased mobile device more than a traditional digital camera. Though we still have a few days before the Christmas Holidays, I want to wish you and yours a very “Merry Christmas”. Be kind to one another.

Nabsico’s Oreo cookie is arguably the worlds most popular and most often copied treat and now in honor of the upcoming final season of the HBO Original Series “Game Of Thrones”, there is a specialized version of the cookie that will be available starting tomorrow. Let’s take a moment to enjoy the fun trailer that was done to celebrate this tasty item.

Piercing Ken Thoughts: Readers of my PiercingMetal website know that the series returns on Sunday, April 14th and if you have not yet seen the trailer that we posted please click HERE to be on point. Here at the Media Command HQ of “The Chronicles”, we just love everything about the Oreo Cookie and sometimes around the holidays we love it a little too much and need to pace ourselves in the following weeks or risk going up another belt size. I love that they teamed up with the show creators to unveil this sure to be tasty treat and they will surely be flying off the shelves during the time that they are available so get to your market quick and ask the staff to secure a couple of packages for you. I’m hoping to secure one myself but only to sample a few of them before sharing along. Summer is around the corner I want to lose a few pounds. As I close up I am thinking that the branding for the upcoming season in terms of this product will not be #ForTheThrone but instead should be change to #ForTheCookie – What say you? Chime in down below in the comments.

Happy 17th Birthday To My Cat Spooke (3/24/2019)

Hello my friends, I am happy to be blogging today in celebration about it being my beloved black cat Spooke’s Seventeenth birthday. As I’ve noted before, she was born in my first apartment over on Fort Hamilton Parkway and has been a part of my household ever since. She was the offspring of my still very much missed Momma cat Shadow who I lost in 2015. Spooke was initially kept to keep her mother company and she has not really lost any of her amazingly pleasant disposition. I’ll repeat myself from last year with the notion on how awesome it is to have had her for so long and its just amazing to know her actual birthday. Shadow had her kittens way back when on a night when I went to see the band Power Windows over at Peggy O’Neill’s bar not far from my house. When I arrived home at holy mackerel o’clock in the morning, there were kittens in the box with her. This photo below was Spooke just a short while ago. She’s pretty much adopted this part of the couch since I usually go there and I get meowed at when I am there and she wants it.

For the annual photo I didn’t have many ideas on what to do and I had envisioned something with several cards with some kind of cat themed dialogue but the idea was gone before I could figure something cool out. That made me just doodle a “17” and position it behind her on this spot. As you can see, she was not amused by my jostling about and calling her attention to the camera for the shot. While she is seventeen in people years, in cat she is actually 85 so she is very senior and allowed a little bit of cranky if she deems it necessary. Though still very talkative to me, she is slowing down a little bit and doesn’t bolt around the apartment as much as she once did. That’s fine because at times she was a blur when she did that. One of her favorite things to do is look at the laptop screen while I am typing away and just lazing on my shoulder while doing this. I need to snap a shot of that and add it into this post. I can add that she’s gotten to hear more Metal and Hard Rock than most of my friends give a chance to but don’t worry I am not blasting it too loud here since I have to focus on it for articles and absorb any subtlties. Don’t worry about her though because when she finds too much noise being the case in the living room she retreats to the bedroom and takes that over. That is where the next shot came from. As I’m posting this in the afternoon I can say that Spooke has already eaten some of her favorite food and she remains a crazy for gravy cat so I tend to buy those from the market more than the others. She will also get a few extra treats for the day as time progresses for being good.

Of course in these days of everything being showcased on Instagram, or as The Influencers would say “The Gram”, I gave Spooke her moment in the spotlight. This shot was taken yesterday before I went off to a couple of functions. We hope that you click the “<3" on the image since she deserves it.

Thanks again for listening, I hope that all of you readers with furry babies are spoiling yours as well when they have birthdays or anniversaries to being yours since they are so important to our daily life. Spooke means the world to me and I love her very much and tell her this every day. I like to think that after 17 years that she understands.
