“Among The Drinking”; The Anthrax “Wardance” Beer Tasting @ Daddy-O NYC

Just the other day, the Butternuts Beer and Ale Company hosted a tasting of the brand new Anthrax inspired beer called “Wardance” and since I was unable to be a part of this myself, I asked our good friend “Jumpin'” Joe Kaufman to go in my place. Readers of the PiercingMetal.com site know that Joe helps out when possible over there so here are the thoughts that he had about the experience.

I had a fun and indulgent Monday night attending a beer launch/tasting for Anthrax’s new signature beer “Wardance” brewed by the Butternuts Brewery. It was held at Daddy-O, a cozy little bar with an excellent spirit selection and friendly knowledgeable staff In the West Village on Bedford St. NYC. It was a fun event, Frank Bello even stopped by to support the launch party.

Getting “Pie-eyed” For Australia Day 2017 @ 3JP

Last Sunday, this year’s “Australia Day” was being celebrated a couple of days later at the Three Jolly Pigeons bar in my own Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and I was very much looking forward to the festivities because I wanted to get completely “pie-eyed”. Oh I’m not referring to drinking a single drop of alcohol mind you, because when I said “pie-eyed” it was to enjoy the culinary treats that His Royal Pieness had cooked up and was serving until the supplies ran out. I used my mobile for the images from the time spent, so please enjoy.

This year His Royal Pieness had cool shirts with an awesome dinosaur on them oh and before you ask, HRP is actually named Callum Sigg and you will meet him later on in the presentation.

Ellefson Coffee Co. Opens Brick and Mortar Store

If you’ve been reading this blog for any bit of time you know from the posts that I consider myself a bit of a foodie. I check in regularly at places via the Swarm app and am a frequent Yelper to help raise awareness. I love taking photos of my dining choices as long as they can steer people towards a good place. Sure I post them to Instagram but there is a larger reasoning behind it. Since we do talk about food here a lot more than ever before, I loved the chance to be able to share the news about the opening of the Ellefson Coffee Co. official store. This is of course the brainchild of Megadeth bassist Dave Ellefson. Check it out.

The Press Release:
Ellefson Coffee Co., the boutique Coffee brand of Megadeth bassist David Ellefson will open its first brick and mortar ELLEFSON COFFEE CO shop next week in David’s hometown of Jackson, MN. In addition to serving a variety of custom blends of Ellefson Coffee Co brands, including ROAST IN PEACE, SHE WOLF, KENYA THRASH, and URBAN LEGEND, ECC will also be a retail outlet for Ellefson Coffee products and memorabilia, as well as a satellite retail outlet for titles and merchandise from Ellefson’s EMP LABEL GROUP.

The store will also serve as a “Museum of Deth” featuring permanently displayed artifacts and memorabilia from Ellefson’s personal collection , as well as memorabilia from other artists. After teaming up with local Jackson Coffee shop COFFEE CHOICES (one of Ellefson’s personal Jackson haunts) and owner Susan Reiter for their URBAN LEGEND blend, David’s ECC (and EMP) partner Thom Hazaert suggested taking the partnership farther.

A Foodie Goodbye To The “Big Mac” Daddy; Jim Delligatti Has Died (1918-2016)

bigmac_120116_01

Foodies around the realm are having a Mac attack at the sad news that Jim Delligatti, the creator of the famous McDonald’s hamburger the Big Mac, has passed away. He was 98 and will forever be known for this incredible fast food burger. In honor of his passing, I paid a visit to my local franchise and ordered up a couple of them and a small fries. They were two for $6 in my neighborhood so I figured the indulgence would be worked off with all of the walking coming up in the next few days. I don’t eat these all that much nowadays despite loving the occasional hamburger at various pubs and clubs that I venture into for my PiercingMetal.com forays. Its a perfect blend of two whole beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun. Did you know there was actually a jingle for this way back in the day? There was. We even had a giant Big Mac as the policeman of a place called McDonaldland which many of you readers are far too young to remember but it was surely fun. Funnier still was that action figures existed of these characters and while I had them they have been long lost to the sands of time. They’re worth lots of money now too as well.

The history of the hamburger known as the Big Mac was quite interesting to read and you can learn about the famous hamburger on its Wikipedia entry below. Goodnight Mr. Delligatti, thanks for your creation and for increasing my waistline a little bit over the years. May you Rest In Peace.

Eating It Up @ BurgerFi

I’ve been wanted to try the recently opened Burgerfi restaurant in my Bay Ridge neighborhood since I first saw it but like most plans, they got shifted to the wayside until the other day.  Now the time had come and I would finally get to sample their offerings.

Once you place your order, you get one of these little buzzer devices to let you know when your meal is ready.  I chuckled at this because the place isn’t really that big so just shouting “number five” is not out of order.  Oh well.
