PiercingKen Attended The NY Comic Con 2010

For as long as I can remember I have been a fan of comic books, super-heroes and pretty much the whole Science-Fiction medium as a whole.  During college I did a short internship over at Marvel Comics and while I “used to” draw various doodles and images, this was put aside to be more serious about semi-professional music pursuits. Anyway, a few days ago was the annual NY Comic Con & Anime Festival which was held at the Jacob Javits Center on the West Side. I attended all three days of the massive event and documented these adventures over on the official blog for my PiercingMetal.com website since I had been able to wander the halls as a member of the press. Clicking the logo below will bring you over there so you can enjoy what we saw and hopefully feel like you were walking next to us. This personal blog might do that every so often, and of course the PiercingMetal.com one might send readers over here when the need arises.

Please note that comments are disabled on this leader posting as we prefer any that readers might have be placed on the actual content postings. Have fun. We did post our visit to the fashion show that was held at the Comic Con by the Hangry & Angry folks and you can see those observations and images by clicking HERE.

PiercingMetal Ken & The St. Baldrick’s Organization

Recently some friends and I participated in a cancer fund raiser for the St. Baldrick’s Organization.  If you have never heard of them before, please know that they focus their energies on raising money to help get more research for Children’s Cancer.  What makes them interesting and a little different, is that you are able to volunteer to be a barber or get your head shaved in solidarity with the kids that lose theirs during treatment or from the illness.  A detailed play by play about the event and a ton of fun photos can be found by clicking the logo below.  I loaded this particular narrative under my PiercingMetal Musings blog since I went into this event using my website brand and fellow Metal supporters as my teammates.  It was one incredible and unforgettable night.

Should you wish to leave us a comment about this adventure, we ask that you leave it under the full narrative on the PiercingMetal Musings Blog as they have been disabled on this signpost. Thanks very much.

PiercingKen Is Now On Twitter: Live, Love, Follow…..

twitter logo, social media logos

Even though you might be a leader in this world it’s thanks to the likes of Twitter that you can all also be Followers as well. That being said, I decided to mirror some of my practices done for PiercingMetal with the PiercingKen blog and create a Twitter account for it. I hope you will click the image below and become one of my ardent Followers because I would love to have you along for this part of the ride. So far I have connected a couple of things to it so you should see the blog postings a little faster than having to remember to come all the way over here 🙂 I’ve been using Foursquare for awhile and if you enjoy what that site services then you can see what we do over there as well.

As you might have realized based on the date stamp of the above “First Tweet”, I’ve been using the network for about a year now. The “PiercingKen” branding actually predates the launch of this here blog. It’s funny to be doing this because I will be the first to admit that I didn’t even like Twitter in the beginning. Now I am seeing how to use it a lot more and a lot better so why not use it for this particular blog as well. It can’t hurt at the end of the day. Alright my friends that is all I have for you in this post. Please get back to your tasks and we shall see you soon for sure. We do hope that you will “Follow” us and even “Retweet” the items that interest you most and help us grow.

“The Chronicles Of Piercing Ken” Is Now In WordPress

website logos, piercing ken, piercing ken logo

It was only just over two weeks ago that I announced the debut of a brand-new blog that I would be launching called “The Chronicles Of Piercing Ken”. If you didn’t see that post, just click HERE to be more up to speed with the news. This new blog was being delivered to the interested using Google’s Blogger software.

Today I am here to share the news that a proper dotcom domain name has been secured with “PiercingKen.com” and WordPress is now installed under this domain so no more using Blogger for the posts. I spent most of yesterday integrating the few weeks of old posts into the new WordPress software and from here on everything that you will be reading will be in WordPress. For the interim I have a “We Have Moved” sign posted as the final post on the Blogger account but in time that entire presence might be deleted to avoid any confusion. The writer in me wants all the traffic to come to the correct location and stay here and I’ve gotten pretty adept at WordPress since I’ve been using it on the PiercingMetal Blog as well for a couple of years. The blog has a few dozen subscribers so I want them to find the new place easy enough.

I’m also using Social Media for this. I’ve placed a link to my Twitter below so you can follow along with whatever I am getting up to over here. You might laugh at the notion that I have not used that Twitter account since some time in late 2009 so it will be nice to finally have a reason to tweet about things we are doing on the site. Perhaps I will employ the other social networks that are available to keep people in the loop a bit better. Anything that helps to generate site traffic and attention is good in my book. Okay that is all I have to share with you. Let’s make this something fun together.

Piercing Ken on Twitter

Welcome To “The Chronicles Of Piercing Ken” Blogsite

Hi there, I’m so glad that you stopped by 🙂 So you might be asking yourself, just what is this “Chronicles Of PiercingKen” that you are looking at. Well, let me try and explain it as best as I can.

To those who know me, I am going to ask you to sit tight for a moment so I can give a brief introduction to those who might not and have found this blog while randomly surfing around the Internet. My name is Ken Pierce and for the past six or so years I’ve been a music journalist who adventures out into the Metal night and offers up findings on my PiercingMetal.com website. It’s a blast and a half presenting what I experience to a wider audience than just my circle of friends and since its own launch in 2005 has greatly changed from what I originally thought it would be. I do hope you will click the link and examine it if Hard Rock and Metal music are up your alley. Now back to the program already in progress 🙂

Long before I was doing any journalist stuff, I always considered myself a little bit of an amateur photographer and I would constantly be snapping away at things that I saw in my travels. This meant that I had a lot of photos that fell outside of my music pursuit to show people and I needed a place to do so. It seems as though the days of flipping through a photo album were over thanks to the Internet and social networking sites like MySpace and the now dominating Facebook and many people were using these mediums to share with their friends. Honestly, this was not for me, and I decided to launch a new blog and post those treats for you in it. The name comes from what a couple of my publicity people call me, and I felt it worked even though I have nothing to do with piercings. It’s in name alone I am afraid.

What’s The Premise Of PiercingKen?: I really don’t have a particular “mission statement” yet, but after looking through my recent and older folders of photos I can tell you to expect museum stuff, travel and touristy stuff, New York City visuals, Art, Fashion and Food as they come up in my day and maybe even the occasional music piece that is worth talking about but would not fit on PiercingMetal. I just might even scan some old photos that I like and share them here as well. It’s a very open playing field that I am establishing with this blogsite. I’m going to let it be a little bit of a catch-all that brings you into my day a bit more and maybe even inspires your own creative energies. Sometimes I might be profound and at others rather absurd. Let’s see what happens. All we ask is that you enjoy the ride and engage with us when you can add to the topics via the comment section. Thanks for your support and interest.

Ken Pierce, Founder and Principle Creative.

PS: This was originally launched on Blogger but I just didn’t like the limitations of their publishing software. Once I secured the proper domain name, I imported and edited the batch of posts that had already gone up. Once those were given the okay, the Blogger page was deleted.
