I’m sure that you’ve all heard about this network by now and if you were following my Social Media posts over on PiercingMetal you might recall that I discussed Instagram even before having an account of my own. That was posted about HERE if you didn’t see it. The app was ONLY available to the iPhone users and as a longtime Android mobile user, I thought that sucked since there was a whole missing out vibe going on. With that being said I am here to not only tell you that our time has come but that I have also created our Official Profile on the Instagram social media network. My first post to this photo-sharing applications world is embedded below. It’s a couple of vintage Batman toys.
It’s that time of the year where everyone’s “Irish Eyes Are Smiling” and the wearing of the green can be seen all around you; Especially in New York City. With this being the case I just wanted to post a couple of seasonal images that I found around the command center and wish you a very fun-filled but safe, St. Patrick’s Day. The first photo is a very happy Leprechaun that my Grandmother gave me about ten years ago. “He looks like you she said”. I just smiled at her way with words from time to time. He really doesn’t since I don’t sport a beard.
Speaking of my now dear departed Nanna, she was very creative and had fashioned this decorative ornament to hang in the apartment. It was very nicely made, and all by hand mind you. I’ve tried to keep this in top shape after a couple of apartment moves and so you should still be able to see that its a three leaf clover and there is a small leprechaun on the top of it.
This little guy is my “Lapelprechaun”. Alright, I realize that’s completely terrible but I was at a temporary loss for what to say. Nonetheless this is my little lapel pin leprechaun. He stands a couple of inches high but I don’t wear him out much for fear that I will lose him.
I don’t really have in the way of festive St. Patrick’s Day garb but I did secure this nifty Leprechaun hat when I did the head shaving for St. Baldrick’s a couple of years ago. Before you ask, yes they did give this to me.
I’ll be taking it easy on St. Patrick’s Day because I will be covering a show over at the Gramercy Theatre. It’s not an Irish Metal band but that sure would have been fun to bring to the table. The Dropkick Murphy’s are not in town today and I don’t think Flogging Molly are either so I shall be hitting Hank III. Maybe if I am lucky I will get a couple of green beers. Can you believe that I have not yet tried one of these? I mean, I really don’t think I ever have.
If I am not able to get one of the green beers, I am so making a point of visiting the local McDonald’s to sample their new McCafe Shamrock Shake. They are bringing this new concoction out for the customers and its reported to be very different from the one that I used to love. I will give it a try and if I hate it, perhaps I will bring that to the world’s attention via the blog.
Enjoy the day everyone and remember that lots of water and sleep will help you get back to normal if you overdo it.
Just a quick thought about this oft-called Hallmark Holiday, and believe me I am not saying this as a soured single at all ๐ I do wish everyone peace and love today whether its Valentines Day or otherwise. Be good to the ones you love and remind them of what makes them special to your own day as much as possible and try to make it last a whole lot longer than the box of candy or dozen roses might give you in terms of time. There’s a lot of great people behind me and my work and all of them provide me with the positive energy and drive to move forward with zeal and gusto. I love you all. Some perhaps a little more than others, but that happens along the way in life doesn’t it ๐
The image you see above was snared while wandering down 34th Street this morning. It was in the Macy’s window and I was heading down to Toy Fair 2012 to do my journalist thing. Maybe next year I toss together a little bit more of a Valentine’s Day posting with images from around the city. Let’s see what happens. Toy Fair was celebrating the day by having boxes of these all around.
I was not much the fan of these candies, but did get a kick out of the messages on them. I was more of a Sweet Tarts kind of guy and those Smarties (mad love for Smarties). Closing up I would like to end this with a little kiss.
I know that was terrible, but really…..you didn’t expect something like this? From me? You must be new around here ๐
Yep. Toy Fair 2012 begins today my friends and I cannot tell you how excited I am to be attending Toy Fair 2012 as a member of the accredited press once again. Oh alright, I can tell you “I am VERY excited”. This is my second go at this massive industry only event and its a great chance for me to observe and share the findings about the newest and hottest developments in the toy industry with you all. While the narratives for last year’s event reside on the Official Blog for PiercingMetal as opposed to this blog site, I wanted to make this post to let you all know to check over there for the upcoming coolness that I shall be bringing to the table. As expected this humongous trade show will be taking over the Jacob Javits Center for the next four days and I will have my good buddy Skeleton Pete Parrella along for the journey. He’ll be taking photos and notes for his own Skeleton Pete site as well.
Clicking the logo above will bring you to all of our posts about the event and depending on when you follow its lead, there might be more than the first time since the coverage will span numerous days and postings. I’ve disabled the means to comment on this post as its not much more than an introduction piece but do please let your topical thoughts be known on the posts that you will find on PiercingMetal.com; Thanks for listening my friends and please keep your day a positive one.
Last month I mentioned that I had created an Official Facebook Page for PiercingKen.com and now it’s time to let you know that there is a new and hopefully exciting Google+ Page as well for that side of the social networking fence. You already know that we have been using Twitter for the blog since its launch day and if you don’t, well, please allow me to add to the mix that we have a Twitter account connected to this blog’s activity as well. Nowadays it appears that one needs a strong presence on the vital Social Networks to keep the visibility going and since I’ve found some success with them over on the PiercingMetal.com site I figured let me tend to the PiercingKen.com house in similar fashion.
Now about our Google+. This is apparently the up and coming hotness but many writers, photographers and fans of the Social Nets are not yet sold on it. I don’t blame them because its moving too slowly in a time when things are getting to be almost instantaneous. I do like having an additional location for the blog sites postings but nothing is automatic for me at the point of this narrative. If I want a post to be on our Google+ Page I need to paste it in there for you. There are worse things that can happen. Continue reading PiercingKen Now Has An Official Google+ Page→
