The Statement:
Tony Award Productions released the following statement on March 25 regarding the American Theatre Wing’s 2020 Tony Awards®, presented by the Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing:

The 74th Annual Tony Awards, scheduled to air live on the CBS Television Network on Sunday, June 7th from Radio City Music Hall in New York City, will be postponed and rescheduled at a later date, in coordination with our broadcast partner. The health and safety of the Broadway community, artists and fans are of the utmost importance to us.

We will announce new dates and additional information once Broadway opens again. We are looking forward to celebrating Broadway and our industry when it is safe to do so.

Make sure to follow the Tony Awards on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook for news and updates from the Tony Awards.

Piercing Ken Thoughts: Though this news makes me sad, there is no way around it at the moment. The world outside is a very different and somewhat treacherous place based on this terrible virus and its important to be safe rather than being sorry. As our readers know, we love sharing nominations and winners circle rundowns for you here on “The Chronicles” and when some sense of “normal” returns we shall be back to serving up the things that you enjoy the most. Stay safe out there and follow your regional guidelines since they are different in every area. In my own NYC they are suggesting you limit times out and about and maintain a distance while keeping your hands clean. Not fun at all. See you next time.
