Rundown Of “The Odd Couple” New Year’s Eve/Day Marathon On WLNY 55 (12/31/2024-1/1/2025)

“On November 13, Felix Unger was asked to remove himself from his place of residence. That request came from his wife. Deep down, he knew she was right. But he also knew that, someday, he would return to her. With nowhere else to go, he appeared at the home of his childhood friend, Oscar Madison. Sometime earlier, Madison’s wife had thrown him out, requesting that he never return. Can two divorced men share an apartment, without driving each other crazy?”

Such began the proceedings for the 1970 comedy series “The Odd Couple” which was an adaptation of the hit play by the legendary Neil Simon. While the play featured Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau, the show starred Tony Randall and Jack Klugman as Felix Unger and Oscar Madison respectively. It ran for five seasons and some “114” episodes when all was said and done. It’s a favorite for many and while I also enjoyed the show, I cannot claim any level of dedication to it. It’s the kind of thing I would love to one day binge from start to finish which leads me to this particular post. Once I learned that WLNY was going to be doing a fairly comprehensive marathon I decided to add it. As my inclusion of this marathon was a bit of a last minute decision I mostly used their own network website as a reference. So please if there are any inconsistencies I direct you to their side of the fence and not mine. I have never included this show to my usual yearly rundowns of “The Honeymooners” and “The Twilight Zone” (the latter program being posted on PiercingMetal since it fits best there) but since it had so many episodes I felt that it might make for some good Google traffic and with this being the end of the year it will be nice to get some surges for the website. Now without any further adieu please take a look at the marathon that will begin later on tonight. If you plan on programming this onto the DVR you should start doing that now to get it out of the way.

The Press Release:
Fanatics has announced plans for the return of Fanatics Fest NYC – the immersive, interactive festival which captivated fans and collectors of all ages for the first time this past summer – which will take place from June 20 – 22, 2025 at the Javits Center in New York City. The multi-day event transforms New York City into the epicenter of fandom, collecting, and culture, and in 2025 will bring together even more of the preeminent athletes, leagues, teams and brands under one roof for an experience like no other.

In August, the inaugural Fanatics Fest NYC hosted more than 70,000 fans across three days and based on the strong turnout, positive fan sentiment and social buzz, the 2025 event will be bigger and better. With significantly more space added for next year’s event, fans can expect an expansive schedule of live, on-site programming, panels and discussions; larger superstores and autograph zones; a much wider array of exclusive collabs and products; more space for league and brand activations; and a larger trading card and collectibles exhibit.

Exhibitor Chats @ Curve New York, Summer 2024: Part 2

curve new york, trade show logos, curve new york logo

Back in August, “The Chronicles of Piercing Ken” was once again in attendance for the Curve New York expo. For those in the unaware, the Curve Expo is a trade show that focuses on intimates like lingerie but also showcases swimwear and assorted accessories. The show runs in tandem with the NY NOW show and while that trade show takes place on the main expo floor of the Javits Center, the Curve Show is up in the River Pavilion. Since the general public is not permitted at such an event, I like to bring our audience into the mix as best as possible and in addition to some social media posts and website feeds, I did some exhibitor interviews as well. While the videos are all resident on the Official Piercing Ken YouTube Channel, I’ve also collected them in posts like this to add to the website content. The journey continues with the “okko” brand and our one on one chat with the company founder Phoebe Kunitomi.
