Hey there my fine readers, it’s once again time to share some of the behind the scenes coolness that is happening over on one of the networks that is connected to the Piercing Ken framework. So I’ve already pointed out how I like to shine the spotlight on special events and milestones when it comes to brand when I recently achieved something for the PiercingMetal website and since “The Chronicles” is of equal importance to me as a content creator I was pretty stoked to notice this. It’s no secret that I have been posting quite a few clips onto our YouTube Channels of late and when I finished uploading my most recent video, I saw the counter turn to “500”. Now I mentioned over on PM that I have been using the free version of the VidIQ service and when you hit a particular milestone they send you a nifty graphic that you can share along on your social media platforms. Since Piercing Ken isn’t signed up for that service I won’t get an alert or the graphic. So what I did for the purpose of this announcement was to edit what I needed from the PiercingMetal Channel news and use it here down below. I am fairly stoked to talk to you about uploading 500 videos on “The Chronicles” of Piercing Ken’s Official YouTube Channel.

So before I get down to the nitty gritty in this announcement, let me share that the Piercing Ken website will soon be celebrating its 14th Online Anniversary. For several of its early years the site was not used as a professional medium but that changed around 2016 based on events I found myself having interest in covering. While we began exploring all sorts of amazing lifestyle and industry happenings, there was never a YouTube Channel created to go along with it. Truth be told I was content in posting over on my original Personal Channel and that was a big mistake to have made. When the pandemic happened I realized that it was high time to get on the ball with this and so a Channel was created and a number of the originally posted videos were repurposed to reflect the new Channel and of course removed from the original location to avoid any copyright strike notices from Google. It would be a comedy being zapped for using my own work in another space. Now with the Channel in place the trick was to get to creating suitable content for that websites audience and building the following up from 0 subscribers and no views at all to hopefully something that will be impacting in time. Since this is a celebration post, I am going to celebrate the most-viewed clip on the Channel so far down below and its actually one of the ones that was re-purposed from the original personal Channel. Take a look.

You might be asking yourself how the heck did you get to “500” videos in so short a time, I mean historically speaking the Channel isn’t even four years old yet and the reason this was a possibility fell largely on the YouTube Shorts initiative. The creation of Shorts seemed to be YouTube’s counter to the likes of TikTok and Instagram Reels but unlike those two you can only have up to 60 seconds for a Short and no longer. It took a little practice but I was cool with giving it a go and began doing “announcement” clips at conventions and concerts. At first it was easier to do these for PiercingMetal but in time I developed a strategy to use for the Piercing Ken content. Down below you’ll find the YouTube Short with the most views to date.

Having the ability to do these Short clips has really populated the Channel which is a very good thing because as I mentioned I was several years late in launching it. In my defense I’ve made up for lost time and the great thing about reaching this plateau at this time of the year is that it falls right before several events that I know I will be recording all sorts of videos at and capturing content for the other networks we use. The Boat Show is around the corner and then comes an American Kennel Club event that I am interested in exploring in greater detail. In March the Auto Show returns and while its still too early to register I am fairly confident about my credentials being approved once again. These shows alone will push the number of videos closer and closer to our 600th clip and don’t worry, when that happens I will return to our Editorial Soapbox to let you all know about it. While I currently do more of them on PiercingMetal I think I will do some more unboxing things if its applicable. I also intend on doing a bunch of foodie clips since those are always fun and a fella needs to eat after all. Before I wrap this narrative up let me remind you how YouTube works for creators. To achieve any kind of monetization you need 1K subscribers and 4K hours of watch time in a single calendar year. We are not at all near these milestones, but according to the website stats we pulled in almost one million pages viewed last year so I am confident that the readership can help us reach those plateaus bit by bit. When you kindly give us a subscribe, please peruse the content posted so far and give some thumbs ups to it or leave topical comments. Doing that let’s me know you’re out there and I can reply. It’s not all that easy seeing who is subscribing to a Channel on YouTube and the goal is to keep you entertained and inspired to look more into the stuff that’s being featured. That’s all I have to say about that right now, see you next time with more cool items.
