Welcome back my friends its so nice to see you again. You have arrived at my third and final chapter of the exploration of the 2018 Book Expo. This massive publishing industry event was once again taking over the Javits Center for a few days and we are on point to show you what is going on with some of our favorite publishers and to see what might be a brand-new discovery. If you missed the previous chapter please click HERE to bring up the stuff so far presented. I will start off with the folks at Ampersand which is a digital subscription service aimed at bringing discoveries that speak to your interests right to your tablet.
Here’s the folks at Blackwing. They make high end writing instruments and accessories. Perfect gifts for those who don’t seem at ease with the cheap stuff like myself.
Freewrite is one of those devices that I am eager to try since it will let me focus on the article side of our creative process. Too often I find myself distracted by emails, news alerts and whatever the hell is going on in the dreaded Facebook world.
Maybe I can convince them about a product review and see how it applies to my kind of journalism. Right now its a tad pricey for me to just give a shot to. If I were a songwriter, a screenplay sort or conventional author I might make the jump but I am not so nope.
Wait a second have we flipped backwards in time and are back at Toy Fair 2018??? No, this is just the folks at “Roblox” who were showcasing their stuff in a booth outside of the main expo floor. I loved the idea of it and hope to learn more going forward.
These two ladies are offering up a unique alphabet and I guess its safe to say art book. They are Elizabeth De La Piedra and Lydia Neubauer with “Alphabodies”.
Part of me was tempted to ask if I could spell the name of the websites with their cards but I decided not too. They were lovely to speak to and I hope their book is a success.
Here’s author Rebecca Hanover getting ready to sign copies of “The Similars”.
Here’s author KD Elizabeth. We met last year at the BE and she is an awesome person. Sadly she was in a rush to get somewhere so our catch up would be a brief one this time around. It happens.
Here’s Charlaine Harris, you might remember her as being the creator of “True Blood”. I should have also taken a photo with her but I didn’t want to bother her.
That’s going to bring us to the end of this years Book Expo presentations so I hope that you enjoyed them. Tomorrow I will be hitting the Five Points Festival and covering that for PiercingMetal.com – I’ll be back at Javits on Sunday to get one day of The Book Con in so do please return to these narratives for that stuff. Hopefully I will run into a lot of the familiar faces that I see at both of these. Remember that you can learn more about the people and companies that were featured in this chapter by clicking their websites down below. Also, it’s during events like this one that we are VERY active on our social networks so you’re going to want to come on over to our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
