Over the summer I attended my first-ever “Sweet Suite” which is an event that is set up by the fine folks at Toy Insider. I had met them at this years American International Toy Fair thanks to our good friend in media Mr. Skeleton Pete. Shortly after the event, this massive box arrived and I figured it would be fun to do one of those “unboxing” posts, even though I know this stuff is better suited for a YouTube.com channel. I opted to use the Chronicles of Piercing Ken for this post based on the event and the contents of said box being more suited to my folks with kids readership so here we go.
Okay so before I begin I will stress that this is NOT all of the stuff that was in the box. It was massive as you can see and packed to the brim. No complaints on that at all so here we go with something adorable called “Twozies”. They come care of the makers of Shopkins.
I guess a good children’s programming DVD can keep the young ones occupied once in awhile even though all of them now seem to know how to utilize tablets, mobile phones and YouTube.com – Here is a video of Kate and Mim-Mim.
I’ve always loved the superhero stuff and at this years Play Fair I met The Miraculous Ladybug. This package came with a mask of the famous children’s heroine. Now someone can help dish out the justice just like she does.
One of my cousin’s recently had a baby and I was stoked to find these next two items in the box since he will probably be able to use them. I’ll try to remember and tell you the end result if he does or not.
I’ve been hearing the VTech name a lot but really haven’t been examining their products since its not my line of expertise but this elephant rattle sure does seem mighty interesting. It should keep any infant or easily distracted musician occupied for quite some time. I flipped the switch and it made all sorts of noise. I cannot wait to give this to the that little one I just mentioned.
When I was younger I collected the action figures or cute little figurines of various types and that was what I loved about the Shopkins things that I began to see around the stands. These are the Splashlings and I guess there is some similarity to them at the end of the day. This fantasy realm brings the characters of the deep to your living room and young ones playtime. Clever and so very cute.
There are numerous different variations of these “Magic Mee Mees” and they interact with each other so that is pretty cool. Here is one of the figurines but please know there is also a few different playsets for you to purchase. Those were not included in the box.
If you are feeling “crafty” perhaps this is something you would like to examine. This is a charm bracelet kit and features a number of the “Gemlins” characters. That is a clever name for sure.
This little oddity reminded me of the Freakies figurines from the cereal of the same name. It was something I had when I was a child and sadly time had lost me all of these figurines. They are little gross figures. Suitable for the child that has a weirder and creepier side to them. Where was this when I was that age LOL.
This is an interesting item from Thames & Kosmos. They deal with all sorts of science and experiment stuff. That is good to do with your kids or younger relatives if you have them. Play together, learn together while you can.
I love the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and just might have to keep this one for myself.
The same applies to Stikbot here. Maybe I can bring him along to my shows and do some stills with him in the photo. That would be funny don’t you think?
This is “Bop It” by Hasbro and you have to do exactly as it says. It seems to be a fun sort of game for you to play with the kids.
There is nothing quite like a new box of crayons. The simpler pleasures of youth when all you needed was these and some paper. I think I’ll be keeping these myself if I need to take my head out of the manic world for a little while. I also loved that they were “Sweet Suite” branded.
Well, that brings me to the end of this narrative and I hope that some of these items are sending you to the online retailers to get your holiday shopping in gear well in advance of the season. It’s never a bad idea right? I’ve added some links for some of the vendors who were featured in this box and hope to present findings from the Toy Insider “Holiday Of Play” event if I should find this outlet being extended an invite when the event takes place later on in the year. Play On my friends 🙂
