Last week, the Toy Association’s Toy Fair took over the Javits Center for its massive industry trade show and I attended the event as one of the accredited media as I’ve been doing since first taking the plunge back in 2011. For years I’ve done this for the PiercingMetal outlet based on my focus on all of the Kidult collectibles and assorted offerings. Now it’s time to expand the findings with some posts for “The Chronicles of Piercing Ken”.

While I’ve been posting over on PiercingMetal for the better part of a week, there are aspects of the Toy Fair that don’t really fit into the context of a Heavy Metal and Geek Culture website. There’s a ribbon cutting and statements and even a fun character parade with a live band. All of that is perfect content for “The Chronicles” so let’s begin with some of the parade and the ribbon cutting.

In the center is Greg Ahearn and Sharon Price John who would welcome all attendees and then cut the ribbon signifying the opening of Toy Fair 2025.

Some of these photos were taken before the opening ceremony but I am featuring them for you now. Can you name all of these characters?

My first appointment wasn’t going to be for awhile so I walked around the general lobby area to see some of the other displays that were scattered around the Javits. Toy Fair takes over most of the building.

This gentlemen is holding a giant-sized “Hork”, a mashup of a horse and a shark. It’s one of the Randimals that his company makes and while they didn’t have a booth at the Toy Fair they were walking around trying to generate some interest.

There was a few cool Squishmallow displays at Toy Fair like this gigantic Pikachu and a super comfortable chair. I didn’t manage to do a photo op in this super soft creation but that is what it was there for.

The Clixo stuff is super creative and I met one of the company founders at a TTPM Showcase event last year. There’s a video of that interaction on our YouTube Channel so please take a look by clicking the hyperlinked text.

The popular Bluey mascot was outside of the Moose Toys booth with a friend. Yeah I managed to get a photo with him as well but I will post that stuff later on.

These are called Mash’ems and they were quite small and super squishy. As you can see they have a number of properties that are things we talk about over on PiercingMetal with Marvel, Star Wars and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

When I do posts like this over on PiercingMetal, I tend to stop at “50” images and since I’ve reached that number I will follow suit. As I compose this closing, I am not 100% sure on how I will be offering up the coverage from the show on “The Chronicles of Piercing Ken”. I guess that I can do some similar stuff here with the exhibitor posts and also shine the spotlight on some of the special features that I observed along the way.
