The Press Release:
After careful consideration, the NY Luxury Design Fair has decided to make the very difficult decision to postpone the inaugural event to September 8-11, 2022, due to ongoing complications related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The fair has found great enthusiasm and support from prestigious media partners, A&D trade organizations, and many leading manufacturers, and expected robust ticket sales from trade professionals and consumers eager to attend. Unfortunately, many confirmed and prospective exhibitors, local and abroad, have communicated continued challenges including unpredictable future health concerns, managing product backlogs, current workforce shortages and travel bans, limiting corporate policies, and delayed shipping timelines.

The situation is compounded by many regular and prospective exhibitors deciding to forgo participating in all trade shows in 2021. Show management felt the fair, which was designed to showcase a wide range of products across key design categories, would not present the optimal level of luxury offerings without the full roster of premier brands. With this and all stakeholders’ best interests in mind, it was decided that the best course of action is to postpone the fair to ensure the most successful luxury lifestyle fair in 2022. This is disappointing news, but the show team and partners have laid a strong foundation for next year, September 8-11, 2022, and there is every confidence that it will have an exceptional debut.

The NY Luxury Design Fair team would like to thank all confirmed exhibitors, media partners, industry organizations, and the greater design community for their support. They look forward to resuming conversations in early 2022.

Piercing Ken Thoughts: While I was very much looking forward to this event the announcement doesn’t really surprise me at all because the ongoing issues with the virus and variant after variant coming to pass are just making things like this harder to coordinate. The idea of less attendance is the exact opposite of what a trade show or convention is looking for and while this one was open to the public as well, there are too many factors to worry about with those who have not opted to get the vaccine. Speaking for me, I got the vaccine when I was able to because I wanted to go to things once again and see all the awesome outside of my living quarters. I did one event which was very restricted and I will assume that more will be like this if they even happen. I am pro-vaccine and I know many readers are not but I will not argue with you on this. It’s your decision. Good luck to all, I hope to see everyone in the real in some sense when possible. As expected the old dates for this and the new ones will be updated on the Events Calendar. Stay tuned to that resource and the socials for the very latest updates. Please stay safe out there.
