In a wave of cancellations of concerts, conventions and festival gatherings that bring in lots and lots of people comes the not so surprising news that the New York Renaissance Faire for 2020 has been cancelled. The organizers posted a short time ago to their website and social networks and we have embedded this information for your perusal and even typed the statement if the graphic is a little hard to read on your respective device.

The Statement:
“Due to the continuing health concerns and unrest affecting the entire country, REP has made the decision to not open the New York Renaissance Faire for the 2020 season.

This is a serious and impactful decision for our small company and for all those who participate in the Faire. We simply can’t run the risk of exposing our audience, staff and participants to a virus which continues to spike around this country and specifically targets many of the individuals who work with the Faire in every capacity.

We wish you the very best of luck in navigating these turbulent waters. For more information about ticket exchanges and refunds please go to the ticketing section of our website. We will be back for the 2021 season.

Remember that after the plague comes THE RENAISSANCE!”

Piercing Ken Thoughts: As I mentioned above I am not surprised about this news and am pretty much waiting for the rest of the things that I hope would be happening to get cancelled as well. This event was set for late August into September which makes me feel any of the happenings still listed for July and August will be shut down and honestly this is with good reason. This virus is a nasty one and it is still among us. It’s made many people paranoid and yes I am speaking for myself too in some sense because when I am near a crowd of unmasked folks or needing to ride the train I am feel my heart rate increasing and I admit this because I am not alone. That being said I am sad that yet another thing is off the table and there is more to come. I was really hoping to attend this happening his year after so many years of not doing so. I think the only time I went to this before was with my parents as a youngster. What can I say, I have cool folks. Next year I will mark this down as one of the everything I intend on doing. I think that 2021 will eventually be very busy for all of us. What do you think about this news? Chime in down below in the comments section.
