I Love Pizza @ John’s Pizzeria (New York, NY)

I’ve been wanting to put more of my dining out adventures here on The Chronicles because I am often taking a whole lot of photos to use for Foodspotting.com purposes and since I recently hit the famous John’s Pizzeria of Bleecker Street I figured why not post something. This was a busy day for me, as I had to head to Long Island City to see a friends art exhibit and then later in the evening would be a rocking show by my buddy’s band. I touched base with some friends who said they wanted to go to John’s Pizzeria beforehand for eats and a couple of beers and so I connected with them but the only downside my stomach was in knots based on drinking some very expired orange juice. This was going to be interesting.

We lucked out on arrival to John’s as there wasn’t much of a wait to get inside. The place is very popular down here in the West Village and there is almost always a line. I’ve seen the line before and opted for something else but tonight my two friends were on a mission so pizza was going to be had and here is a quick visual of the pie from my phone. In John’s you cannot order single slices and must get a whole pie. That was not a problem for us as all as we would devour this.

Pre-Show Eats @ Empanada Mama

I was heading to a Rock meets Classical show with a valued concert going companion and we decided on on Empanada Mama as our choice of pregaming dining experience. I’d been here a few times over the recent years and find the food to be pretty darned good. The proximity to where we had to go was also in its favor so here are some images and taste discussions from Empanada Mama. The place is located on 9th Ave around 51st Street. I started my night off properly with an amazing frozen Strawberry Margarita.

Integrating The PiercingMetal Pregaming Guides Into PiercingKen Blog

AND LO, A NEW HOME FOR THE PIERCINGMETAL PREGAMING GUIDES IS FOUND……

So what am I talking about this time? Well, to bring anyone new up to speed, it was back in the middle of 2010 that I had the idea about discussing the places that my friends and I would all meet up for food and drink before heading into the concerts that we were attending. A beer or three into the night that the idea first dawned on me found me initially wanting to present this to the readers as a lengthy posting that focused on a number of different places all in one easy narrative. After starting it, I realized that this would be something that would need a constant appending and that could prove to be a nightmare. By serializing them into unique posts, each existing place would remain special and each new one could get its own attention and comments. It made more sense at the end of the day and honestly speaking, this serialization premise was working very well for my Social Net Scoop narratives already so why not follow suit with this idea.

Looking back on them, I think that I did about a half dozen of them before I slowly found my time being consumed by the growing amount of concerts that I was attending and trying to keep up with for your Metal attention and with that being the case the topic kind of ended. Now as a very social person, and I don’t just mean in the online world, I really enjoyed bringing the readers of my sites blog these pregaming guides and decided that with the PiercingKen.com blog in full gear and discussing numerous adventures in food that I would move the topic here and start up once more. I feel that doing this lets me just share a decent place with you all whether I be hitting a show or not. Of course, I will be filing these under my Dining Adventures category as opposed to referring to them as pregaming adventures but I don’t think that will matter once the ball gets rolling.

I realize that some of you might be saying that I would be easily served by continuing to use my Yelp! account to line out the finer points of the places I go but I think it will be more fun to share my photos and ideas here as well for good measure. I’m easily found on Yelp! for those who wish to see some of the reviews I had posted and of course I am using Foursquare and Foodspotting now as well to tie all this kind of stuff together. Come find me on any of those if you like, the more the merrier I always say.

Check out my past narratives on this subject by clicking HERE. It will find the stuff that applies from our “Dining Adventures” category.

Thanks for listening to this little PiercingKen PSA 🙂

A Quick Visit To Pho Hoai Bay Ridge

pho hoai vietnamese restaurant

When your day kind of looks like this outside there is really only one sure fire cure to get you back into proper order and in my opinion that thing is a big bowl of Vietnamese chicken noodle soup. Now, don’t get me wrong here because while there is nothing like good ole Mom’s brand of the stuff, it’s not always something that is immediately at hand. That being said, today I headed over to Pho Hoai to pick up some lunch as I love the place but since I was on my own I brought my treats home and wanted to share the visuals with you to inspire interest.

A Snow Covered Urbania

To my knowledge this is one of the only full on Vietnamese restaurants in Bay Ridge.  We do have quite a few sushi places and Chinese take outs, along with a couple of Thai but so far this is the only Vietnamese place I have been made aware of.  At the restaurant I ordered a simple chicken noodle with vegetables soup.  I am not sure of its exact phrasing on the menu, but they always seem to get it correct when I say it like that.  When you take this home with you, you get to put it all together and that is what led me to blogging it up for our “Dining Adventures” category.  You don’t mind that we were not in the restaurant for this I hope, but if so, too bad.  Next time.
