Pounding The Pavement Of The Steel Pier, Atlantic City, NJ

One of the things that I wanted to do with the PiercingKen blog site when I launched it was to showcase some of the photography that I found myself doing while on various travel or visiting adventures.  I felt that it would be fun to present that sort of thing to the interested eye and since I have a few people that I communicate with from around the world, it couldn’t hurt to inspire their future visiting plans.  Recently I was in Atlantic City, NJ for a couple of days – it was a family outing, and since I am not much for the gaming machines, I decided to wander the Boardwalk with my little snappy camera in hand and see what I could find.  We were staying in a hotel not too far from the Steel Pier amusement park and this is exactly what it sounds like.  A giant pier with an amusement part on it that goes right out over the Atlantic Ocean.  It’s pretty awesome, so I snapped a bunch of images and will let you wander the pier with me.  I won’t have much to say for this one since they speak for themselves in terms of what ride it is.

I’ll start this little narrative with a view from the hall of the hotel where I was staying.  We were in Resorts in case you were wondering.

Here we go, see you on and off as we wander through.  By the way, each ride required tickets which you could purchase at several windows around the Pier.

I wish I had a little more time as the ferris wheel really interested me.

While the Sea Dragon had a Viking premise to it, I was not that thrilled about take a ride on that.  I always foresee my phone and wallet flying out into the beyond.

The Rock and Roll ride was blaring music but not truly what I considered to be Rock and Roll.  Oh well.

This is a ride that I like to call “The Nope”. You are secured with your partner into this round metal ball and shot into the air like a slingshot.

I always loved the idea of go carts but I don’t think I ever rode in any over the course of my life.  Nothing is coming back to me as an ancient experience at least.  Bumper cars yes, but mini Speed Racer type things not to my recollection.

At the far end of the Steel Pier is the sightseeing helicopter ride. I have never done this before in my life and I was tempted here for a hot second. They are a tad pricey to do so maybe one of these days. The down side of their being at the end of the pier is that I wasn’t able to get you any sweeping shots of the ocean. Well, its a lot of water to look at and I didn’t see any boats so I guess it is okay in that.

Have you ever taken a helicopter ride? Now I mean as a tourist sort of thing and not you readers in the armed forces of any kind where this was more work related. If so let me know what you think in the comments section since that is what they are there for. Your voice added onto my own.

After dinner I returned for a quick hop around the same space to see what it looked like at night.  Here is a view from the Boardwalk.

So that’s it my friends. What did you think? Are you heading out to Atlantic City, NJ before the summer ends to enjoy this stuff in person because of this little presentation?  I think you should because you only live once right?  Here is a piece of advice, if you should stay at any of the major casino hotels, get yourself the rewards card that they have because every single thing you do in the place can be connected to it and earn you points for some kind of use in the future.  I am a big fan of points believe me.  I won’t say if you head to this establishment that you tell them that the PiercingKen website sent you since this blog is only a few months old but I guess it cannot hurt to mention the blog in Yelp if you should feel like doing that.  Either way, this was fun for me to do with this site and I promise to try and do more like this when I post here.  For more information on the Steel Pier itself just click down there on its official website and Wikipedia entry.  See you next time.
