Exploring “Canstruction NY” 2013 @ Brookfield Place

I was heading to the city for a show this evening with my stalwart media companion Skeleton Pete Parrella and since there was time to do some other stuff we headed down to Brookfield Place in Battery Park City to check out a charitable art installation known as “CANSTRUCTION”. The premise of the organization is below the logo to bring you up to speed. Check it out.

Logo - Canstruction

“Canstruction® is a unique, trademarked charity which hosts competitions, exhibitions and events showcasing colossal structures made out of full cans of food. After the structures are built, the cansculptures® go on display to the public as a giant art exhibition. At the end of the event, all food is donated to local hunger relief organizations. Recognized for our commitment to innovation, hunger relief and collaboration, our work has helped raise nearly 40 million pounds of food since 1992. Canstruction® events are hosted in over 150 cities around the world including North America, Australia, South America, Europe and Asia.”

I’m not going to talk too much during this one and instead will let you enjoy my findings. I tried to get the sign to describe each sculpture so that should help you along. Off you go now. There’s things to be seeing 🙂

30 Rooms: The Art Of Nicholas Borelli

A few months ago I was invited to an art presentation that was called “30 Rooms” and this was being held in an office building on what appeared to be an open floor for the Regus Business Center company. Organized and sponsored by Six Summit Gallery, the event would present thirty different artists in thirty different rooms. While I did not manage to see every single room, I did get to a bunch that I really enjoyed and shall be presenting each of those artists in their own posting to allow for better focused attention. Here is Nicholas Borelli:

Happy NY Marathon 2013 Day (11/3/2013)

Today is one of those day’s where it is actually okay to let the world pass you by and by that I mean the runners who come from all over the world to participate in the annual NYC Marathon. Of course if you are one of those who are running, then you can watch the world as you pass it by. It was great to have this event back again because it was cancelled as result of Superstorm Sandy last year and while it pissed off a lot of people, I do think it was for the best.

The marathon comes over the Verrazano Bridge and runs right passed my block so I could not resist heading to my corner and snag a couple of images and a little video right up close and personal. I hope you like it and maybe even see someone you know running by.

The woman next to me was from France so you hear her yelling “Go France” a lot during my little film. I looked for some of the Scandinavian countries while I watched but I admit it was a little chilly and I was not properly dressed to remain in the wind. I would enjoy watching the winners from the comfort of my Blog Command HQ.
