Celebrating “Godzilla” Today :)

So today the newest movie featuring the mighty Godzilla arrived in theaters and to celebrate this fact I felt like sharing some images of the great kaiju that I own still in my collections. There was much more of this kind of thing many years ago but of course toys and models break and well, there we are. So the first Godzilla is a 6″ plastic figure with moveable arms, legs and a portion of his tail. I did a little research and found out that it came out in 1985 by Imperial Hong Kong Toho.

You might not recognize this next one and honestly you are lucky if that’s the case since this is the presentation of the Big G that we got in the 1998 “Godzilla” film. As you can see they changed him too damned much and he looked like an upright walking iguana. I saw the film and while I didn’t like it, I was able to snag this figure super cheap in a discount bin at KB Toys. Nothing wrong with that.

Last up is probably the piece de resistance for me as its the oldest item in the collection and hearkens back to the days of The Shogun Warriors? Remember them? No? Click HERE for background. Anyway, this figure is 24″ inches in height and dates back to 1977. You cannot tell by this photo but if you depress the lever on his neck a flame comes out and his right hand shoots off like a rocket. This came very handy when I was pitting him against the smaller action figures in my collections.

I really wish I had one of my classic Aurora Godzilla models still. I know for a fact that I went through no less than five of them since I was very young and we didn’t have a proper Godzilla figure yet. Oh well. No sense crying over split milk, err broken plastic. Information about the new film and a bunch of related items to sweeten the collection can be found via this link so check it out by clicking HERE.

A Glimpse Of The Expanded Idle Hands Bar NYC

A couple of years ago I toasted the second anniversary of the Idle Hands Bar that a few of my friends from the NYC Music Scene had opened up as I was so happy to find it being the success that it was in a metropolis where there is some king of bar at every turn. New folks to this particular posting can click HERE to update themselves and then continue along.

As I cited in that posting, Idle Hands Bar was located downstairs at this address and quickly became the place to go for industry and fans alike after Metal shows and given its clientele and hosts, you could generally count on something Metal brewing within its walls.

Happy Mother’s Day To Those Special Ladies In Our World :)

Today is Mother’s Day and it is the day to toast those wonderful women in our lives that we call Mom. The one who stood by us through thick and thin, supported our dreams even if they were ones that made her shake her head and kept us eating good things while advising of smaller portions as age hit us 🙂 Since I have this lifestyle blog, this year I decided to also post some flowers not only for my own Momma, but also for all of the women that I have come to know over the years who have this title of honor and to reflect with a smile on those Mother’s who have left us. The lack of the winning lottery ticket prevents real flowers from reaching all of you individually, so this will have to suffice 🙂

Oh so what is this last photo then? Well, this is a toast to the Grandmother’s Mary and Jane who have both passed on from this plane but never from my heart and mind. Both of these things were on each of their kitchen stoves and that is where they reside now in my own Casa Ken. I like to think that they are guiding my cooking hand and offering up a little bit of culinary wisdom when I do my thing on this appliance. I also realize that the flash used for the image shows me that the back wall needs a little scrubbing. No worries ladies I will get on that after pressing “post”.

To all the Mothers of the world, please enjoy your day. Love you Mom 🙂 Thanks for everything you have done for me in my life.

Happy Star Wars Day 2014
