Celebrate Dr. Seuss and “Read Across America” Today

On this day way back in 1904, the great literary figure Theodor Suess Geisel was born and you know him best as “Dr. Suess”. His most famous creations in his books fell to Horton (who heard a Who), The Grinch (who had stolen Christmas in case you didn’t know) and the initimible Cat In The Hat. All of them a part of some truly timeless stuff. The author has been gone from this plane since 1991 but his works remain forever a part of our childhood psyche and when I saw this photograph that I had taken a few years ago on my phone I decided to bring him up right here on The Chronicles.

Another reason to bring this up is the fact that the National Read Across America Day was set on the author’s birthday and despite my only learning that this particular occasion existed before I penned this narrative, its premise is quite easy to understand. It’s also rather cool so please my friends, let’s get off Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for a little while and read something in a physical book form. You can keep this website or the PiercingMetal.com one open of course since there is no need to get crazy about shutting every online aspect out of your day 🙂 I think reading to someone is also an important part of what today stands for and if you are in the position to do so, please keep up that process with the younger member of your family circle. As far as your reading time goes, hey open one of the books that you forgot about in your bookcase since we all have those. Even a comic book or a magazine or digest is a good idea. You can even donate books that you don’t want to a local hospital or shelter if you feel you are done with them and don’t need them taking up anymore space.

That’s all I have for now. Happy Birthday Up In The Cosmos Dr. Seuss. Thank you for all your fanciful stories that made growing up all the more adventurous so so many of us.

Exploring Toy Fair 2017: Safari Ltd.

As previously noted, The Chronicles Of Piercing Ken lifestyle blog was once again attending the American International Toy Fair over at the Javits Center and now with the event over and done with the time has come to load up the outlet with all of the amazing sights and products that were offered up by some incredible companies. I’m continuing the posts with one of our personal favorites – Safari Ltd. Let’s go.

I’m a big fan of the stuff that comes out from Safari Ltd. and cannot emphasize their quality enough to our readers.  They are both educational (since they look so much like their subject) and fun.  What is better than that.  With this post I’ll be focusing on the new offerings and some more familiar ones as we close out.  Do you not just love this dragon?  I know you do.

The mythical creatures look great and wow, is that a werewolf?  It sure is.

Pencilling It In With Piercing Ken :)

editorial, editorial logo

If you’ve examined my PiercingMetal.com site you probably are well aware of the regional events calendar that it features. If not, this has been an offering for the readers since that site was launched and back in 2015 it had a significant upgrade to a WordPress plugin called “The Events Calendar”. To say that this has been a boon in keeping the site visitors aware of all the awesome that is happening around us is an understatement. That makes today an exciting day for me here at The Chronicles Of Piercing Ken since I have decided to integrate this same calendar plugin as a feature on this website as well. Clicking the logo image below will launch it for you but you can do that a little later since I want to discuss what this one will entail first.

Initially I thought that I could easily share the Webcalendar from PiercingMetal.com over here and be done with it but with the readers of this site being very different from that side of my creative coin I decided that it deserved a calendar of its own. Since “The Chronicles” is a Lifestyle website this calendar would feature more lifestyle related items than my other one and surely no Metal shows at all. At times there will be some listings that mirror the PM.com one such as the NY Comic Con and other related events but there will also be conventions and festivals that you would never see lined out on my other site. I’ve already begun populating the final regional performances of the circus and the upcoming NY Auto Show and in most cases these listings will come with links to purchase tickets to make it easier on you. I’ve already made plans for some food-related and family focused happenings to be listed and at the end of the day the goal remains the same – get people into some fun-filled and interesting events.

The Chronicles Calendar can be accessed via our menu options at the top of the page and I encourage you to bookmark it as it will be updated regularly. I hope that you all enjoy it and tell others that its here. Please feel free to toss some thoughts on this new initiative down in the comments below. I’d love to hear from you.

Exploring Toy Fair 2017: Crayola

I’m going to begin our presentation of Toy Fair 2017 visuals with the time-honored brand of Crayola. I’m pretty sure that everyone reading this website has owned a box or ten of their wonderful crayons and now with most of us being parents or older siblings and such to younger ones, the developments from this company are to be admired. Here we go.

I love the Crayola appointment because they have everything at stations and you get walked around to each and every one of them and get a demonstration of the latest product. This first item is called the “Magic Scene Creator” and it looked pretty interesting.  Not only do you color on the screen but you can add these little character plastic pieces.  Neat right?
