Appetizing Explorations @ Summer Fancy Food Show 2018 (Part 1)

I was really excited to be attending the Specialty Food Association’s “Summer Fancy Food” show once again because last year was just such a great time for me. It’s events such as this one that make me glad that I started “The Chronicles” Lifestyle Blog. I’ll be talking here and there during this photographic wandering and offering my opinions on certain things as I deem necessary.

I’m going to need to pop into the Press Office and get my badge to explore the floor and this year my plan is to be a little more organized than I managed to do the last time around. To say that this show is massive would be an understatement.

As you can see by the badge, sometimes based on the space in the registration form, I need to use the simpler “Piercing Ken Blog” title. Who knows, maybe I need to modify the title altogether at some point.

Check Out Some “Teen Titans Go! To The Movies” Promotional Posters

Maybe you remember that I had discussed this film back in May with the official trailer for the DC Animated Feature “Teen Titans Go! To The Movies” but if you are new to these offerings and somehow missed it please click HERE so you are up to speed. As a diehard fan of the comic book movies and most of the animated features, I generally keep an eye out for additional promotional posters to showcase in a posting of their own and this film has released a handful of fun visuals that I will share with you after the Official Theatrical Poster. I’ve also added the films premise and an expanded voice cast listing for you to absorb. Let’s have a laugh shall we?

The Plot:
The Teen Titans learn that almost every hero in the DC Universe has their own films, ranging from Batman and Superman, to characters like Aquaman and Alfred! That said, they search for a director for their movie. But the Hollywood director Jade Wilson rejects their offer due to the fact that because of their recent actions over the past few years the Teen Titans can no longer be taken seriously. However, they find a window of opportunity for their own movie by having their own nemesis in the form of Slade, who plans to mind control the entire Justice League and take over the world.

“Fell In Love With A Girl” (Single) by Lena Hall

Artist: Lena Hall
Title: “Fell In Love With A Girl” (Single)
Label: Ghostlight Records
Release Date: 6/29/2018
Genre: Rock
Rating: 4/5

Since the next musical “chapter” in her “Obsessed” series is due any day now, it wasn’t a surprise to find singer Lena Hall serving up a single from the release. The song is “Fell In Love With A Girl” and is a part of the “Obsessed: Jack White” EP. Speaking frankly, I never really followed Jack or his band The White Stripes despite knowing that he’s a talented musician. That said I am here to speak about Lena’s take on this signature track. As we’ve noted before, Lena has been stripping these down to basics and its been working so far so I expected “Fell In Love With A Girl” to sound pretty solid and it does.

StumbleUpon Will End Tomorrow After 16 Years

I wanted to take a moment to share some Internet news with you readers, and especially is you are users of the StumbleUpon service. Sadly, this means of stumbling upon something cool on the Interwebs will be going away tomorrow and I’ve secured the Official Statement from one of their co-founder, Garrett Camp. They plan on taking any lessons learned from SU to the next level of “content discovery” via a new medium called Mix. Let’s continue.

“After careful consideration, we’ve made the decision to focus fully on building Mix and transition StumbleUpon accounts into Mix.com over the next couple months. We have built Mix to work on every browser and smartphone, to make the transition as smooth as possible. With a few clicks you can register and import your SU favorites, interests and tags creating Mix Collections that are easily shared with friends.”

What It Was: StumbleUpon was a discovery and advertisement engine (a form of web search engine) that pushed recommends of web content to its users. Its features allowed users to discover and rate Web pages, photos and videos that are personalized to their tastes and interests using peer-sourcing, social-networking and advertising (sponsored pages) principles. (c/o Wiki).

Piercing Ken Thoughts: Okay so I truthfully hate anything that can potentially lead a site visitor to a medium like my own two websites. It’s 2018, and unless you pay for Facebook Page likes, your postings on that are unseen by most of the ones who really enjoy it and with over 1 billion active websites currently online, I say its every site founder for themselves in trying to get you to their entertainment offerings. I currently have a SU account but its been years since I last used it and with it going away tomorrow I am thinking to just let it go. I never saved anything and instead used it to showcase my own posts in discussion boards about similar topics. Perhaps in time I will look into what Mix.com is all about but if it doesn’t help what I am doing on this or the PiercingMetal.com website, I will likely not be sticking around. If you are using it and don’t care to move on, I suggest that you login one last time and delete your account for good measure. I’ve begun deleting a number of my seldom used Internet accounts because I really didn’t need them anymore and can find the information they once provided easier somewhere else. What about you readers? Are you impacted by the looming end of StumbleUpon or will you be okay and get by without it. Chime in down below.
